Pretty boring filler episode for all the boring characters story lines.

Not saying im getting bored of GoT but i wonder how much more they can draw it out ? 2 more series? 3 at a push?

I had 2 people in work whinging it was going too fast and think they should be making more and taking it more slowly.

It's a hard act to balance.

haha yeah... Theres just so much going on now that seem like epic endgame worthyness.

Perhaps they could do a whole mini series of Daenerys riding through the desert making world-conquering speeches at every village she comes across, or even in the middle of nowhere for no apparent reason, before being reminded that she doesn't have any boats to actually get there, or indeed trees to chop down to build said boats? Oh wait ....

I've just finished last episode of season 5. Sky doesn't have first few episodes of season 6 anymore. When will they have license again? Any other place to watch it legally?

I agree that the show is going too fast. And in some ways, too slow. Many scenes are rushed, and because they aren't very engaging, it makes the show seem both too fast and too slow at the same time.

The show is moving faster now than in any other season, but the characters have become progressively less engaging. As a result, where there isn't any major plot development, it feels like the show is dragging along.

I get the impression the cast and crew want to finish the show fairly quickly so they can move on to new projects TBH. Maybe not everyone, but enough key people that there's a very firm focus on nudging the story along each episode. The journey throughout Season 6 will be significant by the end - probably the biggest progression of any season to date.

The other consideration is that Game of Thrones has pushed TV to its limits. The producers have spoken openly about the challenges of filming such a vast show, with several teams spread out over thousands of miles. 10 episodes per season is a limit largely imposed by logistics. They can only fit so much in without compromising quality or the release schedule. This has been cited as the reason for many of the cuts that have been made to the story, and also the cited reason for the lack of much Dorne.

You clearly don't need trees to build boats. Euron Greyjoy seems pretty confident about being able to build 1000 boats quickly. Did anyone notice large forests on the Iron Islands? I barely saw any trees, which stands to reason given how exposed the land is. Boats in Game of Thrones clearly aren't made from trees...

Nowhere. Sky are the only ones in the UK with a license to show GoT right now.

IIRC, they usually do a re-run after the season finishes. I might be wrong on that one though.

Can't put my finger on it, but something changed not just on story telling/plot level. The cinematic element to the story - the photographical way of pre-staging the on screen plot, that elevated GoT above all TV series seems to be gone, or became sloppy. For example - one of the first scenes in the last episode, Sansa reads something, asks where a place X is, next cut she's standing in front of Littlefinger. No pan across trees into some remote place, no journey time, no splendid shots of mountains and a small hut somewhere in the forest. Just bam - straight to the point - next scene, next set. That's weird, that's Eastenders editing style, that's not done in GoT. In GoT we always had timeless narration - we don't particularly care about time of the day, day of the week, consecutive things happening to the same character that day, normally GoT would venture to another place, show us a piece of conversation between Jon Snow and some else, to keep other threads moving, then return to Sansa. Or go into some sort of scenery, panoramic shot to set the tone and place, not just throw us from one place to another with the same actors - yeah, I know, it's a minute thing, but odd - suddenly we get stuck with one character for one scene too long, suddenly the pace of the story is broken - like it was emergency wrap up - a lot is happening in not enough time to get involved in the story, and yet nothing gets done, in some weird way?

It is less than two miles from Castle Black to Mole's Town. It wouldn't take long on Horseback to travel that short distance.

Yeah that would be great!

Alternatively, and I know I'm pushing the boat out here and being a bit wild compared to your really solid suggestion, they could spend more time getting into the motives of characters and the fallout of the big scenes. A few examples being Kings Landing aftermath being sped over, Joffreys death not really being covered beyond a scene or two of tears, Dani and the death of her child and the Khal.

But yeah, your suggestion I much better

Personally after not being a huge fan of the pacing early days and finding it a little too fast paced I think they have hit a reasonable balance, not please everyone though.

Gotto agree that this episodes Dany scene was utterly pointless. Was it filmed to meet some contractual obligation to Emilia Clarke otherwise it wasted 5 mins of air time for naught.

It felt like like filler although i'll admit it might have moved a lot of plot along a bit.

I like game of thrones for the most part but it is quite hit and miss. Like quite a few viewers, by now I'm totally fed up with the Daenerys story arc, just no interest in what happens over there anymore.

That Tyrion and Varys have been tacked onto it also really grates as they are/were interesting characters,

Have to say I'm pretty disappointed with Season 6 so far.

Not much action going on, not many battles, character stories moving slowly, no unexpected twists and turns, things you didn't see coming, cliffhangers, just all a bit meh.

I'll still keep watching it to the end...I mean I watched Lost till the end and that show went downhill big time :D

The speech was fine but it should have been part of the last one. Instead of her knocking over the baskets of fire, Drogon sets the hut alight. Walks out unburnt, speech, mounts Drogon.

Think it would have been better if the two other dragons flew down as her speech ended and landed either side of Drogon, I mean they were released a few episodes ago it doesn't take that long to fly there surely. Doubt they had the CGI budget for that though.

Whenever I have reread the books I have just skipped all the Daenerys chapters after AGOT.
