Seems odd to end it. People love it, it makes mega dollars.

GRRM is only planning two more books, so that only really gives them this season and one or two more, depending on how things work out, unless they go meandering off beyond his stories which I don't see happening.

Someone needs to tell Daenerys that being immune to fire and having pet dragons are not relevant skills when it comes to civil administration and governance.

I certainly wouldn't vote for her.

Those specific abilities allow her to bypass the traditional democratic systems :P

I'm sure the 13 episode crap is just about money negotiation. They are not winding up all those stories in 13 episodes after dragging this out for 6 series creating back story. If this show makes them lots of money (I don't know how much or if it does) then it's not ending that soon.

I don't care about the books or what happens in them. This is the story now. For all I care he could kill Jon Snow in the book and he ends up ruler at the end in the TV series. I don't care, after the last two dragged out piles of crap he should just not bother and let the real writers finish it for him.

All I need from the story now is a slow and painful death for Ramsey, Cersei's head lopped off, Jamie to lose his other hand and Dany to die of inactivity. If she ends up on the throne at the end it's all been a huge waste of my time :D

Thank God you aren't writing the books then, that would be an utter disaster :p

Have HBO got the rights to make more.

What I mean is if GRRM wrapped the books up (in 100 years or so), would HBO only be able to go that far? Could they make their own extension of it or could GRRM block them from doing it?

Not sure but think rights to some of the back story were sold? Dunk and Egg?
I'm sure after the main story is told we'll see some sort of spin off prequel series.

Roberts rebellion and Aegons conquest would have made excellent series, but we know what happened so it's not possible. Shame.

Dunk and Egg would be cool... but a bit different to Game of Thrones in that you're not going to get the multiple character arcs etc... but could make a nice mini series - more the sort of thing the BBC would do perhaps.

If this show makes them lots of money (I don't know how much or if it does) then it's not ending that soon.

They have 40 million subscribers, and whilst it wont be all of those who subscribe because of GoT a fair few will. Then they sell box sets for $60/season. So probably make a fair bit!

Unless you're in charge, I don't think it matters what you care about I'm afraid...

When it's finished, I really hope they look to do something else in the Ice and Fire world. Even if it's half as good as GoT, it will still be more than watchable.

Of course, I just don't have to read any more of his crap. It's rare a TV show or film is so much better than the book. This is one of those cases by a mile.

I literally couldn't disagree with you more. The TV is some of, if not the, best ever made (rivalled only by Breaking Bad IMO) but it doesn't even come close to being as good as the books.

Agreed, I don't think that it's possible for the show to rival the breadth and depth of the books, without having at least double the episodes; though people moan that they think too much of the series is filler at the moment.

Apparently anything other than battles and action is filler

Not at all, I much prefer character development and a good story to action. The batlles etc dont interest me much at all. I just find a lot of the side stories like Sam and Gilly to be really boring. I think its more the actors that aren't doing it for me though, I'm sure these stories are far better in the books. I dont care about these characters at all and wouldn't bat an eyelid if they died in the next episode. For a show with so much to fit in these crappy characters are taking away time that could be filled with good characters imo.

apparently the actress who played Marei (the flexible lady of negotiable affection) in the first series was actually a working girl in real life at one point....

Amusing to think some dirty old gits must have been watching thinking 'I recognise that prostitute from somewhere'.

edit - not Ros actually but 'Marei' from Baelish's brothel.

That made me think of Shae and that the actress was a porn star. I googled it to double check and seems not. I'm sure I read somewhere she was :p
