It didn't go into the penalty area it went wide, and that isn't how football works, if you lose the ball and are court behind a counter you won't always catch up, it's a team game. He however didn't just stand still and watch he went and did his job and did it well.

I don't know if you know this, but every player on the pitch loses the ball, otherwise one side would never have the ball.

You don't lose the ball on the half way line and leave a break on. He almost did it again a moment ago.

It leaves the entire team out of position.

You do that against Germany and see what happens.
