The next Labour leader thread

They can hardly call themselves the 'opposition' can they! All that's going on in the country and they're fighting amongst themselves like this.
Pathetic.

Labour probably should split. In fact our parties probably need a shake up in general.

North of the border we need to scrap Lab/Con/Lib and create a Unionist Party to consolidate the vote and push the SNP out of power. At least in the Scottish Parliament.

In England and Wales we probably need to see the Labour split into Socialists and Progressive Democrats, the former being Corbyn, Ken Livingstone et al whereas the latter would be your Blairites. The right is already split amongst UKIP and the Tories, but with UKIP becoming somewhat defunct it seems like they need to rebrand themselves as something that will appear to the working class.

You're probably right, but that can't happen unless we replace our voting system. The splits would just destroy each other and hand so many seats to a third party.

Looks like Angela Eagle is going to be the one to run against Corbyn. Which will be interesting, considering her CLP were already unhappy with her for resigning.

Corbyn just seems to be behaving like a total arrogant idiot now, it's almost as though he's a bit thick - if he think's he has any kind of future as leader. Any reasonable person would have thrown the towel in by now and stepped down gracefully. Making it so he has to be prised out with a crowbar, is just going to delete any positive reputation he ever had, and cause god knows how much extra pain for everyone else..

Angela Eagle , sweet jesus. I stayed up to watch the votes come in on Thursday and at some point around 1am on the BBC Angela Eagle sat there and said that the vote was nothing to do with immigration, the EU, sovereignty etc, it was a vote against David Cameron.

The vote was literately smacking here in the face and yet she sat their in her own world in total denial.

Does Labour really really think that voters on the ground that will vote at the next general election want another totally deluded Leftie that has absolutely ignores them to pursue their Leftie Sociallite Nirvana fantasies ?

I voted Labour for 20 over years till 2010 when there was no way i was voting for more of Gordon Browns shambles. When Milliband was still there in 2015 come election time i thought it was a bad joke.

But following Corbyn and now potentially Eagles, i'm done with them. I welcome our new Boris overlords.

Labour really are finished for another generation.

These current crop of "Labour" MPs are a complete joke.

No conviction at all. They actually make my blood boil. They are all about spin, soundbites, and having a glossy image. Can't stand them.

They exposed their true colours by turning on their leader, trying to get rid of him by circumventing the normal election process, and getting their own preferred leader put in place un-democratically.

In short, this is the current "Labour" party: "By MPs, for MPs". They talk about "helping the poor" but they only want to help themselves. Nothing they say is genuine. They are *only* about grabbing power.

They are actually worse than the Tories. I would rather vote for ISIS than today's "Labour" party. Yes, they should split. Have a real socialist Labour party, and then a self-serving, spin-happy, media-savvy pretentious bunch of fakes that are no more Labour than David Cameron is. What would they call themselves tho?

Probably something fallacious like the "Real Labour" party. They are anything but. Plonkers.

Sorry about that rant. I just wanted to air how much I detest the current Labour party :p

Corbyn has just got a new fan.

I've never supported Labour, granted I'm young and I'm not sure I would either however I have a lot of respect for this man. In a climate of change and unsteadiness, he is remaining firm. Labour needs to stop imploding and unite behind him and move forward. Fairly sure Conservative will not win the next election; it's an easy win. By doing what they're doing they will throw away their chance to get back in.

Absolutely not.

He's perhaps the only genuine Labour MP with real values. The rest are fakes. The rest have no business calling themselves Labour. They are *not* the party of the working classes, or the poor.

They are fakes. They are self-interested. They care just as much about protecting corporate interests as the Tories. They are not to be trusted, because they lie about who they represent.

The tories might be awful, but at least they don't mask it. The current anti-Corbyn "Labour" MPs are snakes.

I hope they never get into power. Corbyn, however, I like. I hope he fights on.

Angela Eagle... holy ****! She has the character, charisma and persuasion of a ****ing broom!

Glad I'm not the only one who wants him to stay :)

None of that matters.

He's still the leader and the face of the party, if the entire party don't want him and are all resigning, he can't hold on. The fact he is trying to hold on, is causing way more damage than if he went,

This is totally aside from the fact that he's a moron, and turned the labour party into a socialist student party, rather than an effective opposition.

He's turned the labour party into a laughing stock,

He's turned the labour party into a laughing stock,

Did you not see the last election with Milliband at the helm?

The unions want Corbyn.
The members want Corbyn.
The MPs want him gone - you know why?

Because they know Corbyn has values that he won't change.

Why is that bad?

The current labour MPs are chameleons. They will change their colours - and their policies - to whatever they think the electorate will vote for.

The current Labour MPs would copy the Tory manifesto word for word if they thought it would get them elected.

The difference is they'd be saying the whole time "we need a Labour government to look after the poor and disadvantaged." And they would mean exactly the opposite.

They are snakes; chameleons. They just want your votes. It sickens me just to look at them.

If Watson runs after the among of fuss he made in the contest for Deputy about "not wanting to be leader, ever" he will have lost all credibility in my eyes.

Milliband sent them well down the road to being a laughing stock, Corbyn just added the hardening compound. It could even be funny, but its not, its depressing. At the moment we absolutely need a strong opposition we have this utter bunch of clowns.
