The next Labour leader thread

The BBC has been told that Angela Eagle will challenge Jeremy Corbyn for the Labour leadership on Thursday

I am guessing no one really wants the job and that's the best they could come up with. Someone who sounds like they're chronically bored. Probably a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire with her.

/double-facepalm applied/ On some level it's like asking someone to off their favourite granddad I suppose, but still, they could've done better than Angela. Does she have traction with the Unions at all? It's her only chance.

I doubt it. The SNP are holding out in Scotland, with the Scottish Conservatives pushing past Labour. He's overestimating his popular support outside metropolitan areas, in the North and even parts of London. The Midlands is a more mixed picture; but the South is dead to the comrade. Without the latter, you can't win elections. The end.

I really, really doubt that's the case - though it depends entirely on the next week and how Labour handle the mess they're in and the handing of the post-referendum decisions from Cons.

I think the whole referendum result was a huge (if mistimed) two fingered salute to establishment politicians. So fingers crossed a left wing opposition will have a lot of support. It will so so much better than Tory vs Tory (in all but name) in the next general election.

Does this man have no shame? He hasn't even tried to disguise himself at all. I mean, he could've at least died his hair blonde for a start.

Eagle... Confirms just how stupid the Labour party is, i bet if you asked a 1000 randomers on the street to watch a video of her, how long they could sit and listen to her drone on... they'd have left before answering...

I was shocked she had a clone.

If that's the best they can come up with their only hope is that the lawyers decide Corbyn needs to be nominated and then he fails to get sufficient MPs.

Who wrote the rule book? It's almost as bad as Article 50! :p Feel bad for Watson, he was practically in tears on the Beeb giving a statement about not running and the party going to ****. :(

In the new language of corporate power, when we call a candidate "unelectable", we simply mean that they cannot be bought.

Bernie Sanders.

I dont understand why Benn isn't going for it. I thought everyone loved him?

I think he's got more sense than to let himself be associated with this crap that started with his sacking, I imagine he may step in later, after Corbyn is finally proved unelectable - that's if there's anything left to salvage mind you!

Angela Eagle set to announce challenge to Corbyn tomorrow, an Iraq war supporter, I doubt that'll make any difference though, the Labour turkeys are hell bent on Christmas.

Unbelievably farcical.

Angela Eagle is more unelectable than Corbyn. She is way too meek and whiny. She was whimpering away and crying on TV the other day about resigning. Can you imagine thatcher ever being like that?

I'm not sexist and I have no issue with a woman labour leader/PM, but she is just far too clueless and weak to lead the UK represent us on the world stage. Labour would be mad to elect her.
