Don't worry, Gove is a patsy, they needed someone to stand for the leave campaign and Gove was the most believable after Boris.

Gove is there to lose, his campaign will show you that much. May will win and suffer the political suicide that any EU outcome will bring (given the split in the country). When May loses the next GE and resigns Boris will swoop in and Gove will be his chancellor.

I hope your right on the first point at least! The only way I can see the conservatives loosing the next election is to a Labour SNP coalition which would be horrible to watch! Here's hoping the rumours of a liberal revival are not over stated I'd much rather have them holding the conservatives ack than SNP and Labour egging each other on!

Dear god have we learnt nothing in the last few weeks, look at his record and the wasteland he leaves behind him a Gove term would be bad for the country no doubt about it.

Quite, that's why I'd vote for him. I think he's respected by his Tory colleagues but he's unelectable for the vast majority of voters. With Gove at the helm, it's less likely that the Tories will win the next GE.

Boris has been exposed once and for all as an ineffective, scheming coward with zero interest in serving his party or the electorate. His absence since the referendum result, aside from incoherent articles and press conferences at which he refuses all questions, has been completely without responsibility.

Selfish, cowardly buffoon.

I feel dirty for saying this, but if May becomes leader of the Conservative Party then I could see myself actually voting Tory in a general election for the first time in my life. Reason being, she's the first Home Secretary I can remember who hasn't made a complete hash of the job.

Gove/Boris is interesting, particularly after the "Lady Macbeth" email leak, but no - do not want Gove as PM at all.

Doubt Gove will get in, hes just too toxic for the electorate. Crabb won't because of his views of homosexuality and his inexperience.

That leaves May, Leadson, and Fox.

Fox is too old hat to get in, hes been around the leadership contests too many times before and isn't associated with winning.

So, our next PM is likely female. I'd prefer Leadson over May. Not as authoritarian, a fresher face, and supported leave.

I think Boris was playing the long game. He gambled that being on the 'leave' side would raise his profile with certain parts of the electorate and so when 'leave' inevitably lost, he would be in a good place to take over once DC stands down before the next GE. He's also be in a decent place to win the GE.
Unfortunately, he "won" and now doesn't know what to do.

Basically this.

It has all backfired for him. He never thought leave would win.

DC has played a very wise game, Boris can't possibly win regardless of what he does, game set and match to DC, Boris is finished.

I hope May gets in, having a female leading the country into EU negotiations can only be a good thing.

No matter who gets in, I look forward to more cries about them being "unelected" just like all the idiots who cried about Brown.

People are just realising this?

yes, it's amazing that Londoners had been saying the same thing for years and no one listened to them and then the leaver brigade rallied behind him thinking he was Jesus, but then it turned out he was just an impostor with a stick on beard...............
