I think I'll go for Leadsom, simply because, as Mae West said, "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before."

Looking at the candidates I think we can rule out a General Election any time soon unless the Tories get in to a huge internal row. Which unelectable moron will they pick?

The Witch of Westminster?
Pinocchio?
The one that hates gays?
The one that lost the last leadership contest to Cameron?
The one that nobody has ever heard of?

This is going to be a car crash. People wanted a GE to be called when Brown took over from Blair, despite the fact we all knew it was coming and who would take over. The current situation is far, far worse.

For me, Gove seems like the right one out of the current group. He wanted to leave the EU so we need a leader who can carry this through with determination.

Having a leader who was dead against leaving the EU would be the wrong move as they need to be behind the majority vote. They need to carry out the voters wishes with 100% confidence etc.

Quite the chuckle in both camps.

Immigration was blatantly the main concern of most leave voters. That's not to say that those with concerns are racist, or that I agree with those concerns - but a lot of people, and a very high number of leave voters, do have those concerns.

The problem is that politicians have been very quick to remove money from public services, they then don't want that to be seen, so some - and a media that supports the parties doing such things - use smoke and mirrors to blame a section of society.

People don't understand the benefits that immigration bring, and instead rely on a message that's been repeated that often that people think that there must be some truth in it. Even if there's not.

I'm not dismissing people's concerns, even though I disagree with them. The way you solve these issues though is through acknowledging concerns and being able to talk through them, through education and debate.

Instead though, throughout the entire referendum campaign, emotional words such as "scaremongering", "propaganda", "we don't trust experts", etc have been used to shutdown conversation whenever anyone wanted to discuss sensibly, show reason and use logic.

That's why Gove's scary. May would be worse (she'd remove civil liberties faster than anyone else, and is very authoritarian). Crabb has shown homophobic tendencies. Fox's special advisor controversy show's that he's all for nepotism and abuse of public office for his friends.

For all those reasons I think Andrea Leadsom may just get the job, because she's carried out the least worst actions to date....

Solid post :)

Boris was not gunning the position just yet, he was just setting himself up for a future win.

I agree, he's spent his entire career acting the bumbling, Tim Nice But Dim character. He's a so much more devious than most would give him credit. So I very much doubt we've seen the last of him.

Hope I'm wrong mind :D

It wasn't mine, so don't even think of tarring me with that brush or I'll take it off you and slap you with it.

Love it:D

Nothing wrong with immigration. I am all for it even though i wanted the UK to leave the EU. It just needs to be policed better!

Is Boris sitting and waiting to see who and what happens in the Tory party? He may have other plans as the Tory party is blocking him, UKIP?

I made a comment earlier that said similar but... It's gorn Missing in Action

Theresa May got GCHQ on the case ?

Or Maybe it was Boris !!

The more you read into the biographies of the current top contenders, the more they all look like a litany of sociopolitical phobias and darkness-touched quirks. May it be, and let's hope for a half-decent opposition by spring. At least she was a Brussels lobbyist in her wilder years and should know how to handle herself on that stage. Others are either ideologues or too wet behind the ears. With the right support, could well become UK's Merkel. :)

Michael Gove or Andrea Leadsom. Stephen Crabb looks like he's punching above his weight to be a politician, let alone prime minister.

Wow Britain is screwed. Incoming labour government

Haha you gotta be joking :p They've seriously ruined their reputation over the past week

Will certainly be an interesting next General Election!... Assuming the UK public will remember any of this :p
