Anyone know of any good roads around Brighton?
I'm down there this weekend and it looks like I'll be leaving relatively early Sunday to come back up to Wolves so I'll have a whole day to do it in and I'm looking for something a little more interesting than just sitting on the M way as the weathers looking alright.

My fallback is to just tell the Tomtom to give me a winding route but that's always a little hit and miss.

Also I would happily sell my first born for my Ducati, and then give up my job so I could ride it and then spend twice as long brining it back to pristine condition so it could sit in my living room between rides where my tv used to be because I'd probably have to sell that too.

One of the best roads down here is close to Brighton, the A272 between Winchester and Maresfield. Also the A24 south of Dorking is a great little windy road. If it's a sunny Sunday, definitely stop off at Ryka's at Box hill for a gander at all the bikes, there's usually some nice kit there - HP4's, Ducati's, old 2 stroke stuff etc. It's normally heaving with bikes.

Cheers mate I'll see what sort of route I can knock up from that.

Well was at a loose end Sunday after abit of a ride and nipped down to the local BMW dealer . I am in the market for something new so he suggested trying the Xr1000 .

Its very comfy.. Handles well and looks "ok" Its quick but didnt blow my mind and not a real lover of IL4's and its also very buzzy . Done 30 miles or so and took it back .

I explained my concerns and he suggested taking out a Boxer (new watercooled 125hp) . I was reluctant and had always dismissed them as slow and "old man" but he had a naked r1200r with all the toys so took that on the same route i did on the XR.

Well what can i say ... Loved it .. Really fun .. Bags of torque great brakes and just a hoot to ride . He is going to get a R1200 RS in for me to test but may have just found my new bike.. Dam i feel old now :P

Sort yourself out dude :p

How are you buddy still have the tuono.

Yup still have the Tuono . Trying to decide what to buy . Love the new Tuono but its 15.5 k with an exhaust . Same with the KTM . Im gonna go try the MT10 but kinda liking the beemer ;~)

So a man came to look at the SV today and wants to write it off. He said the glass guide figure was 2120 but he would try to get them to give me 2400 for it.

Quite ridiculous the way they do it. Some scratches on the exhaust means the whole thing needs to be replaced which would be £660 for a standard end can! Also he put down that the front wheel and tyre would need to be replaced despite no visual damage, surely you'd want to check it first?

Bleh. Looks like I'll be without a bike for a while in any case.

If you want your bike fixed, you can opt to not have some stuff done (i.e. ignore the exhaust damage) until the repair is cheap enough not to write it off.

Also, make sure you choose your own repair shop (if you do go this route).

Not sure why you'd replace the front wheel and tyre without checking, that makes no sense .

Also, don't accept £2400, go higher. He's not doing you a 'favour' offering you 2400 instead of 2120, he's just trying to sound like the nice guy. I bet you can get them higher than 2400.

Basically they will be trying to bend you over on everything. Get as much as you can from them.

Also, if the accident wasn't your fault, get your insurance company to bleed the other. Mine did and I got a replacement helmet (not covered) and a courtesy bike for a few months (not covered) :)

My new Angle GT's have been dispatched, they'll be going on Wednesday hopefully, I've never ridden on brand new tyres before, should I just ride normally or not lean too much when wearing them in?

I'd say he is doing him a favour if he can get 2400 out of them 2nd hand SVs are cheap as chips that money will get you a very tidy example.
Obviously never accept their first offer though even if it's a good one like that.

:( There's a bike in Exeter but that's a 7 hour, 500 mile round trip! It's been up for sale for a while, since May.

If you can get a worthwhile saving then it could be worth the trip, I'd hire a van so at least I could relax on the journey home. I said to my dad I wouldn't travel for more than 2 hours again to pick up a bike, I'd rather just pay slightly more for a local one, unless I could get a big discount for travelling.

Rear tyre is getting low on tread. Since this is the first time I've had to look at tyres for the CBR I might move away from the Metzelers that are on there at the moment. They have never let me down, they just aren't confidence inspiring.

Pilot road 4 were really good on the SV, but I'm tempted by the Angel ST. Don't know how many miles the ST are good for though.

I'd be commuting and playing so need to take that into account
