84 Confirmed dead after another apparent terrorism attack in Nice, France,

What a sick thing to do. It's absolutely horrific. What kinda brainwashed and ****** up mentality must the driver have had. It honestly makes me feel queasy. Poor innocent people.

How? I don't think you understand exactly what you're suggesting (or perhaps I don't). If the prepping takes place in another country (which it does) how do our security services "take them down" and before we start harping on about special forces, they aren't some omnipresent crack team.

So the next plausible suggestion is a large occupying force in these places where the planning tales place... We know how well that went down last time.

I was referring to home grown prats sorry. Well one would assume if the prats start buying materials on making bombs which is noticed they would be picked up by police. Well I would assume they'd be followed first to see if they could find some more interesting people before getting the police to pick them up.

I am referring to the people we wouldn't catch at borders as they're already here. Like Lee Rigby's killers(I cant remember their names sorry). As far as I'm aware they were without foreign help from isis.

So apparently he had no prior affiliation to terror cells?

How do you fight that? How do you combat an ideology, all it takes is one nutter going off the deep end. I have no answers but we are living in a grim world at the moment.

It feels like our war on terror for the last decade and a bit has in fact legitimised and contributed to the rise of Isis etc and in fact we are worse off now than we were post 9/11. All conjecture obviously but it definitely feels like it.

Another sad day with Isis getting exactly what they want huge air time and legitimisation in the media with the added bonus that people will continue to point fingers at all Muslims which creates the divides and tension and hatred that drives new recruits to the cause.

France has a huge problem with poor imigrants living in almost ghetto like conditions a perfect recipe to breed terrorists.

This problem has been in part caused by us going to war in the Middle East without defining success and what to do after success was achieved so to those advocating war how will we know we've won and what should we do to fill the vacuum we leave behind in a region that will be awash with fear and poverty?

RIP to all those who died. Truly is a tragedy.

France has now had how many attacks in the last how many years with how many for each?

I started reading about this news literally minutes after it breaking last night knowing the only guarantee was there would be more dead when I woke up. French people are not going to keep taking this.

I was thinking given how easy this sort of attack is, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Maybe there aren't as many people willing to martyr themselves 'for the cause' as we are led to believe?

Thinking about it, good thing those police were armed. Time to arm the UK police - think how much damage would be done by the time an armed response team arrived. This could well be a new and very easy strategy for would be terrorists.

I am staying about an hour away from Nice. Due to spend the night there next week before flying home.

I didn't even know what was going on until I had loads of messages asking me if I was okay.

Terrible terrible act. People, families out having a good time to celebrate their national day :(

Horrific scenes. RIP to those who have lost lives. I feel for the young children there that have seen this last night. I can't imagine what it must be like for them. I hope they grow up not being vengeful, understanding of different beliefs etc . No idea what I am trying to say. :(

I hope the children grow up to be nice people.
