What have you done to your car today?

Bet he's spent less fixing it than you have though Iain! ;)

Shaun, looks brill, what's the ride like? I still keep eyeing these little Clio's up :)

The ride is firm but not crashy, mine is made much worse thanks to the NS2R tyres but if you had a normal tyre they're certainly tolerable :)

It rides better than my old mk6 ST and is considerably less crashy than the GT86 and 500 Abarth.

Then unboxed my new DEPO rear lights.

Just kidding they're OEM.

To replace the old one with 3 failed LEDs:

Glad I got the pair, as the new one has a slightly more yellow tinted turn signal LED grid.

The tail light LEDs also appear slightly brighter than the older ones. New ones made in 2015, old ones 2005. 10 years of LED fade I guess. Should be able to sell the non faulty old cluster for a good sum, and the faulty one for a bit of spare cash.

Excellent. Guess what I'm buying tonight :p

The tail lights look spot on, having seen a few cars with faded / scuffed plastics and duff leds ( as mine where) , it really helps make the rear end look factory fresh..

He's only had it a few days, give it time :)

In fairness though, horses for courses - my car wasn't exactly designed as a cheap to run little city car, nor did I buy it to be. While the Saab does divide opinions, the 207 is pretty universally acknowledged as a really terrible car and small diesel engines in small hatchbacks do make them worse

Currently engaging dealer to see if my car has two coolant temperature sensors (as one has already been replaced), but the Radiator fan does not seem to come on above the correct temperature

After extensive testing, the radiator fan does kick in (the coolant temp needs to be 113C on these), so that rules out a 2nd sensor being faulty. Will try and get hold of dealer again today and push for him to get the EGR channels cleaned, as he is running out of "cheap" fixes that he can do.

Dropped the Focus off for MOT and Service. Hyundai i30 as a courtesy car, which while being reasonable to drive, has a terrible interior. The steering wheel is almost as cluttered with buttons as an F1 car.

On the plus side, reading through the paperwork from my Ford Service, with the Motorcraft 4+ it includes roadside assistance, but also home start, onward travel and even european cover.

Managed to bag a set of MK2 MPS 18" Alloys off the bay for £125!
One has some corrosion and a bit of curbing so they are off to be stripped and coated.

Full set of Rainsport 3's arrived for them too.

very pleased considering these got for £300+ needing full refurbish and £500-£600 in a good condition.

I'm unsure what colour to go for. Plain old Silver or Black with some sparkle. or go mad and go for a light blue :O
I may even have a go at painting them myself (after getting someone to blast them or acid strip them).

This is the wheel design:

I was thinking Anthracite, But am worried it would be too close to my cars Graphite.

Haha yes, DET engine #2, turbo #4. This is the first time I've put a decent size blower on it though.

For the lolz, the crappy old t28 became more and more smoky to the point where this was coming out.

Tad bit of oil was leaking out of the turbine..

Scrap bin fodder now.

it's a little heavier than the stock one which is quite heavy!

tbh it goes well with the carbon wrapped trim inside :) I quite like it but time will tell haha.

Sodding auto dimming rear view mirror quit in the M3 today.. Bloody typical as it was one of the perfect condition parts of the car.
Took the general advice and removed it from the car ASAP before I had the acidic liquid pouring out all over my interior.

You can see where the black seal has failed (the glass broke as I removed the stuck on circuitery). I've ordered one of the uprated replacement glasses which has a gel instead of a liquid, so hopefully it'll be the last time I mess with it when that arrives..
My temporary rear view mirror is crap but just about does the job.. ;)

Nice!

I could use one of those on the Octavia... Wonder how that would turn out..... :D

Found the source of an annoying engine rattle (not the usual rattle of the diesel engine ;)) - my aux belt tensioner vibrating.

Pretty happy I found it and that its nothing bad.
