his belief... he was bought up a muslim, he identified with Islam, he was in contact with an ISIS recruiter, he had an interest in jihadi websites..

in what way is he not a Muslim? Because someone trying to distance themselves from it has said he ate pork? Because he isn't pious enough?

actions don't make someone a Muslim - I could fast alongside my colleagues at Ramadan say... I don't suddenly turn into a Muslim as a result - it is a belief

from the perspective of Islam anyone born a Muslim is a Muslim under penalty of death

But his behaviour had changed - I suspect people would have said the same about Paul before his conversion however he ended up being the greatest follower and carried on spreading Christianity in the early years.

Religion is about belief... Actions can go against but if the belief is what the person (not you or John Finlay think or say) but them alone.

If you had that view there would be very very few Muslims indeed perhaps only linked to imams and sheikhs.

Its like me saying Muslims could never take out a loan. If they did that, by your definition would make them not a follower of Islam.
