Time for the triple to go, if it wasn't for me being miles from home I'd have parked up and left it at the side of the road, just not comfortable for me anymore.

I think I'll change to a V-Twin or an il4, probably an il4 as it's a much smoother ride.

Any suggestions?

Kawasaki z750 and z800 are on the list, may try an sv650 if I can get over the looks, they aren't winning any prizes.

Don't want a supersport bike, so that rules out zx6r, r6 and cbr600rr.

Vfr800 ^_^

Or an older pre 2006 cbr600f

:p

You've the GSX, right? I know someone else on here had one, but I think they swapped it for something else.

Yep. I had a CBR600F for a month as well. They're reliable, not too slow, mostly comfy, great commuters and tour-able. But boring.

I can't see myself getting rid of the GSX, i think i'll keep it as my little donkey and get a bike that's a bit more fun.

Found a helmet to fit my big old head. AGV Corsa.
Not taken it out on the bike for a test yet but spent the morning confusing the baby with it on round the house and it's nice and snug lining feels quality, nice big visor with pinlock and tear offs, plenty of vents the D ring is going to take getting used to with gloves on though.

Not quite as light as the X Lite but much lighter than my shark.

After sitting around the house in it and trying it for a bit longer it didn't sit on my head right so it got returned.

Plenty of adjustment in this one with being able to add and remove foam and adjust where the lining straps sit across the top of your head though so it's fitting like a glove after some playing.

CB1000R gets you only around 120hp, but decent torque and a lovely and smooth ride. Great looking bike with single sided swing arm, decent brakes and fully adjustable suspension. You can get a great example for around the £6k mark.

In on my list anyway.

The Z1000 is also on the list, but still not sold on looks. And so is the Speed triple, but not sold on the price ;)

The cb1000r is 130bhp and 100ft-lb of torque, my street triple has 47ft-lb of torque so it'll be a nice boost while still being a smooth engine.

I do understand why people say il4 engines are boring but i feel that for me to enjoy riding, i need a smooth engine.

The CB100R doesn't have 100ft-lb, that would be as much as a Superduke 1290 R!!! :p

Don't rely on MCN for your stats ;)

Edit: 99nm or 73 ft-lb and 123bhp (92kw).

Depends on the bike, some litre bikes are around 130-140bhp and so going from a 105bhp bike to a 130bhp bike isn't that big a leap. It's when you start looking at the 150/160bhp bikes that it might be a bit soon to move up to.

CB1000R is a cheap, decent bike.

Z1000SX (good for touring).

Don't rule out a v-twin though like the KTM 990 SMT, it will depend on the bike as to how vibey they are. Parallel twins though, buzzy as hell!! :D

The Tuono I test rode only really got a little vibey at over 7k rpm, which you won't be sitting at unless you're on an autobahn :D up to 5-6k rpm it was smooooooth

It's between a Kawasaki Z800 and cb1000r based on looks and engine, i have a week off so maybe i'll get time to try them both out. :)

I don't think that a 150/160 bhp bike will be too much to move up to, unless you spend all your time in first and second gear or you ride on a track. At normal speed limits the power is normally very useable and practical.

I normally get to 3rd gear and sit there as it's the smoothest gear on the triple.
You 'DO' want a ZX6R or R6 ;) ;)

haha. Give them a test ride just for the excitement of it :)

Maybe sometime in the future, if i had someone local who wouldn't mind letting me have a go then.. :p ;)

If you don't want the supersport stuff why not look at the less agressive IL4 600's? The CBF and the GSX?

edit: Couldn't resist Tom :D

CBF600 and CB650F are horrible bikes, not too distant from the cbr600f bikes but the engine is so clunky and jittery, hated learning on it.

Cheers for the feedback, my has the cbr600f and the positon is no good for me, while is isn't as aggressive as a full SS, it's still too far over for my liking, i'd be a cripple in no time riding in that position all the time.

That from the Honda site? Even so, 73 is a nice upgrade from 46. :p

I've also put my tomtom on the MM if anyone is interested, used it once and prefer to use Google maps!

When it's boiling hot I prefer to stick my helmet on last.

After a while and you find the sweet spot on adjustment you will become used to leaving the strap half hanging and will be easy to just pull tight and will be second nature.

That will save you 3 nanoseconds seconds of being hot.
