The cb1000r is 130bhp and 100ft-lb of torque, my street triple has 47ft-lb of torque so it'll be a nice boost while still being a smooth engine.

I do understand why people say il4 engines are boring but i feel that for me to enjoy riding, i need a smooth engine.

The CB100R doesn't have 100ft-lb, that would be as much as a Superduke 1290 R!!! :p

Don't rely on MCN for your stats ;)

Edit: 99nm or 73 ft-lb and 123bhp (92kw).

Yeah I had to double check that too as it would have been mad torque for a vanilla IL4 if it was true!

Maybe sometime in the future, if i had someone local who wouldn't mind letting me have a go then.. :p ;)

Well if you're ever down in South East Oxfordshire on the boarder of Buckinghamshire let me know. You break it your bought it though ;)

Great news, Passed my Mod 2 yesterday ;) Along with another guy who also passed!

Took my test from the Wakefield test center so was riding around some fast /slow bendy roads which was nice :D Treated to a short blast down the M1 back down to Royston afterwards too which was awesome!

Now I just need a bike of my own lol #Happy

Well done. :) it's a great feeling when you pass.

What you got in mind for your first bike?

Congrats!

Does anyone want to come and swap my chain for me? It's raining and I'd rather spend my birthday making my way through the bottle of JD single barrel sat in front of me.

Which bike oh god, I've been scouring the sale pages of everything from free adds, ebay to autotrader and mcn.

I've got £2000 to play with but that's currently for bike + insurance until I can find some more pennies which limits me a lot at the moment but there are some real bargains around for that money!!!

Had my eye in for a YZF 600/1000 thundercat/ace but insurance might just eat me alive right now as a new rider so I might go for my other choice and get a SV650 :D I've seen a pearl white 2001 650s that looks amazing! And I do love the sound of those engines.

My friend who rides a bandit 1200 says the SV is a girls bike :( Girls bike or not I do like them SV's. And I would love to ride with him so I can smile and annoy him lol

I still don't have much of a clue which one I'll choose though :D What's the verdict on bike choices and insurance for a new rider :(

Just got back from viewing a kawasaki z800 and a Honda cb1000r, out of the 2 I prefer the kawasaki for the size and looks.

Took a quick picture of the z800.

It's between a Kawasaki Z800 and cb1000r based on looks and engine, i have a week off so maybe i'll get time to try them both out. :)

I normally get to 3rd gear and sit there as it's the smoothest gear on the triple.

Maybe sometime in the future, if i had someone local who wouldn't mind letting me have a go then.. :p ;)

CBF600 and CB650F are horrible bikes, not too distant from the cbr600f bikes but the engine is so clunky and jittery, hated learning on it.

Cheers for the feedback, my has the cbr600f and the positon is no good for me, while is isn't as aggressive as a full SS, it's still too far over for my liking, i'd be a cripple in no time riding in that position all the time.

Try the vfr bit more upright
