Black Lives Matter protest in London and Nottingham

Explain then. Tell us about how you're being persecuted, abused, insulted, what other words are there? Oppressed? Is that one still in fashion? What about cultural appropriation? Can we use that one?

I come from a country with proper racism. And I mean proper. You have no clue what racism is.

Oh... So whitey isn't allowed an opinion now... That's called racism.

2/10. Must troll harder.

who said im black?

if you people don think racism still exists in the UK then your on another planet, you just have to read this thread.

Who said whitey isn't allowed an opinion, i think its fair to say that a black man would find it just as difficult to know what its like being a white man in a predmoninantly black area and visa versa.

Not about not allowing your opinion but rather, you opinion comes from a different place.

I think this protest is stupid but dismissing them as all oppertunists and people manipulating public sympathy is ridiculous. Racism still exists in the UK but not the kind that can be stopped with a protest.

No he's just saying you don't know what things are like from a black person's perspective. Just like he doesn't know what things are like from your perspective.

You're the one playing the race card here.

I like to think of myself as generally a tolerant nice guy but sometimes it honestly feels like there is nothing I can do or say without being immediately labelled as a racist or sexist.

Positive discrimination is still discrimination. ALL lives matter should be the message going out.

This feeling is cited as being the number one reason why morons like Donald Trump may be the next President of the most influential country in the world.

And it's a completely valid feeling IMO.

Fact that they have to elaborate that the BLMUK wing is protesting iro of immigrants just shows how pathetic the whole thing is...

Of course racism exists. It will always exist. Some individuals will always hold onto outdated beliefs, etc.

As a country though, I don't think you can say we a racist. Not at the same level you can say the US is and South Africa.

I can have an opinion on the end result of where he would have taken it. Racism in the UK exists against all races in the UK why is this one movement so intent on pushing one aspect?

We have some of the most robust equality laws in the world. We have a huge number of schemes set up to help people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We have positive discrimination. What more can be done?!

Protesters like those from BLM are masters of taking a random statistic and making the leap that it's racism that has cause said statistic. And nobody will challenge them for fear of being accused of being racist or ignoring the issue.

Black Lives Matter is an entirely sensible movement in the US; it seems odd to carry the same slogan to the UK where our Police are not much in the business of shooting anyone. There are still issues with racism in the UK that need addressing, and while the institutional racism of the Police does persist to this day - although much improved - I'm not sure importing a US movement is going to be an effective means of moving forward.

There's nothing sensible about it in the US either. If they want to protest something, it ought to be the incessant gang violence inside black communities.

The number if innocent blacks killed by police is trivial.
