*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

This is what I've out toghether so far from reading around the intertubes.

Max light level of 385 at launch. Increases to 400 when the new raid and hard mode launches on 23rd September. All Year 2 weapons / armour can be infused to the new levels.

New raid is called Wrath of the Machine.

Archon’s Forge:

This is a new Court of Oryx / PoE style mode .These encounters are longer than the Court of Oryx encounters, and are triggered similarly with items found in Patrol (possibly the Dormant SIVA Clusters seen in the recent Cosmodrome walkthrough)

Strikes:

Sepiks Prime and Phogoth strikes are back and reworked (Sepiks Perfection and Abomination Heist)

New items:

  • New Vanguard, Faction and SIVA themed weaponry.
  • Thorn is coming back and will have a quest line like the Gjallarhorn.
  • The Kvostov is back as an Exotic with a ridiculous amount of customisation. You can adjust between single shot, burst mode and full auto, and apparently change the rate of fire also. Acquired from a quest.
  • New Faction armour, Ghost shells and Sparrows.
  • Exotic Warlock boots are finally arriving.
  • The new Iron Lord armour set will come from a Rise of Iron Record Book much like the Sparrow Racing/ MoT books.
  • Every Class item that has been released (bar the old raid specific drops) will be available, and shaders will now affect them.

Changes:

Iron Banner has been changed. The Tempered Buff has now been removed as has the Reputation boost from the armour / class item / shader combo. Instead there will be bounties (ala Trials) which drop IB specific armour / weaponry on completion.

Skeleton Keys:

Strike Hoard chests will appear at the end of strikes that can drop strike specific loot. Skeleton Keys can be used to open these chests to guarantee a loot drop (e.g. Flayer Mantle from Dust Palace) Keys are dropped from completing strikes from any source (director, playlist or Nightfall)

Ornaments:

These are a new aesthetic customization feature that allow you to modify the appearance of armour and Exotic weaponry. I hope they work as a vanity item to change a god awful looking armour piece with good stats to something hallway decent looking.
In addition to being able to earn Ornaments from Radiant Treasures (the new equivalent of Sterling Treasure) from playing the game, they’re also available from Eververse via micro transactions.

Crucible Modes:

Crucible has a new mode called Supremacy.

Killing opponents drops a crest. The team only scores if someone picks up that crest. Enemy combatants can deny your score by picking up a dropped crest themselves, but only score by picking up YOUR crest.

I'm excited!

So the PvP mode is effectively kill confirmed and PvE changes pretty much what everyone expected. I have been enjoying Destiny recently and was planning on getting RoI but having buyers remorse already and I haven't even bought it yet.

Yeah agreed, I still might get it just for the raid, but everything else is lackluster at best right now. New PVP game mode is basically Clash with 10mins of work to change scoring system, PvE is not that exciting either. Personally they need to take things more seriously, so many great PvP games out or coming out and Destiny is still a laggy 30fps mess.

I do understand its £25, but I would gladly pay more for a better game, Destiny is already far behind the competition and it just seems to slip further and further behind. As it stands now Division is a better PvE game all things considered and its been out for a few months, and anything thats PvP focused is a better PvP game.

There is a rumour of custom matches for PvP too. Also, PS4 exclusive map for PVP as usual.

If they manage to somehow get dedicated servers in place I'd be happy.

The new artifacts seem interesting. The fact they actually impact game play is a much better implementation.

Yeah they do seem interesting.

The current PVP exclusive map is bad. Custom matches would be interesting but Destiny needs servers to be at all competitive, everyone has it now. Having even 1 laggy match is unacceptable in 2016, in Destiny having at least 1 laggy player pre match is the norm. Coming back to Destiny after playing Overwatch is just painful it takes me all of 2 matches before I rage quit and getting very close to deleting the game.

All sounds ok but nothing special. I've kept away from destiny for the past few months to hopefully rekindle the buzz of when the game was at its peak for me. I was logging on everyday but it wore off a few months after taken king. Can't wait for the new raid though, I need to get stuck straight into it this time so I don't fall behind like I did with kings fall. Still not done KF hard mode.

Hope to see all the usual raiders out in force.

It will probably be like the TTK for me. Great whilst everything is new and fresh, but because I will log on way too much after about 2-3 months it will start to feel very 'samey'.

Mind you I still log onto Destiny weekly to do the nightfalls/Iron Banner/Shaxx's weekly bounty, but that is about it

It looks as if there is an Arc Scorch Cannon available in game at some point amongst the new weapons.
Sepiks looks bad ass in his new guise too, as do the Siva enhanced Walkers.

There's also a few new NPCs like Shiro-4 (who is an Exo who scouts for Cayde-6) and Tyra Karn who is an Awoken who appears to be a historian / record keeper.

The latest vid had a small section where Fallen were in Bannerfall, so hopefully that's another mode rather than Bungie again just reusing assets. I'm not optimistic about that point though as we know what Bungie are like.

Mrs keeps reminding me to on both systems, but I keep forgetting (or playing Neverwinter..... :o).

I will be pre-ordering this weekend so she can stop reminding me.... :p

Only one raid :(. So after a short period it's going to be like it is now, with KF repetitive grind equivalent :(.

come on. Did you really expect more than one raid ?

The game launched with only one. Since then each expansion has added another one.

As for the other comments about the content being lackluster, I'm not sure what more content you were expecting from a £20 expansion ?

Its a nice bit of content for £20, I just wish they'd have made more content because I would have paid for it.

I suppose that's the catch if we want a good destiny 2.
