Audi owners in here!

Have put a deposit down this week on a used Audi.

Current car is:

2011 A6 S-Line (C7) saloon 2.0 TDI manual with technology pack and 19" alloys

Car I have put a deposit on is:

2013 A6 Allroad Quattro 3.0 245PS V6 TDI S-Tronic
Optional extras include:
- Technology package plus
- Adaptive cruise
- Side and lane assist
- Pre-sense
- Full paint finish
- Sports seats and steering wheel
- Dual xenon headlights with high beam assist
- Full second set of alloys with winter tyres (freebie)

I also gain some extras such as DAB radio and air suspension that I don't have on my current A6. The only other option I'd have quite liked is the comfort pack (keyless entry, reversing camera and memory seats) but the chances of ever finding that in budget combined with all the other spec I wanted would be pretty much zero.

I came to the conclusion that I really like my A6 and nothing within budget has perked my interest enough, but what I do really miss is having a decent sized boot. The auto box, air suspension, adaptive cruise and lane assist will be great given I do 25k miles per year and the Quattro, plus winter tyres will be great over the winter months.

Full paint finish?
What's that? Having them finish painting your car is now an extra?

As standard the A6 allroad has a load of plastic trim around it to distinguish it from the regular A6 avant. The full paint finish has this painted instead. I've gone for a car in phantom black so it doesn't really make a huge difference compared to the white examples below.

Example of non paint finish:

Someone basically ordered an allroad but wanted it to look like an S-Line given they also ordered the s-line seats/steering wheel/headlights.

You will love it Abyss. I have a 2015 272PS version of the same car. The air suspension is extremely comfortable and you won't feel the pot holes anywhere near as much.

Guys

Some advice from the Audi experts here please.
Currently have a C class 180K merc. A good few years old, 56 plate.

Looking to go Audi, I am loving the look of the A5, both couple and sportsback editions. TBH, both would suit my needs. Only have two kids, single etc etc.

Is there anything in particular I need to look out for when viewing. I would love an automatic, as I have on now and the thought of going back to clutching fills my lazy left leg with fear :)

Probably looking to spend around £12,000 on it, so maybe a 58,59 plate.

Thanks

Buy my 2011 A6 instead of me part exchanging it and put £1k in your pocket...Only kidding!

The multitronic automatic in the Audi isn't great so I'd be looking for the DSG / S-tronic. Also bear in mind the current A5 came out around 2008 so you will fundamentally end up with the same car whether you buy one from 2008 or 2016.

If sat nav is important you will need to look into the various MMI options, as the standard one on the A5 was pretty poor and didn't even have full postcode search from memory.

Multitronic is ok in last few years but at 58/59 plates it wasn't good at all, reliability iffy especially if oil changes were missed. As Abyss says, get an S-Tronic at that age.

I don't think any of the 2.0TFSI's were Multitronic were they?

You certainly don't need £20k for one as the DSG box was available at launch and launch was almost 9 years ago!

I have actually looked at A5's recently (convertibles only, as the 4 seat convertible market is fairly narrow)

The TFSI models appear to be advertised as S Tronic or Multitronic, but its a total mix so i cant make sense of it. Its such a shame that Audi didnt simply fit a normal gearbox to these cars :(

Yes

Is it actually S-tronic though or is it multi-tronic/CVT?

So many ads are wrong these days so I don't trust them.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, the stick looks exactly the same as my multitronic setup.

I have a 2009 model and it's exactly the same as every other post-2009 model I tested. You shouldn't miss an oil change on these regardless of manufacture date.
