The next Labour leader thread

I don't like anything about the Labour Party right now...and I'm no Tory...

We have Corbyn who is media inept and Cba to even rally for Brexit to stay in...

And on the other hand we have Owen who come across as a complete chump.

We have politicians crying ...Twitter bullying and no clear direction..

It's like watching an episode of The island with Bear Grylls lol

Labour are unelectable for the forseeable future which I think is great :p

The unreserved seats belonged to the people who were shortly to arrive by helicopter guys. It's all a conspiracy to make him look bad.

Yea which is why the conductor offered a seat in first class because even the Virgin Train conductor knew there were no seats left, no seats left even for the family he did move up to first class after asking JC. But lets not let that keystone get in the way of the smear on JC you tout.

Its not rocket science to see Virgins motives here. Maybe they will fire the conductor.

Or perhaps because the conductor realised he was Jeremy Corbyn, he decided to offer an upgrade with a reason which wouldn't result in a charge with someone in possession of a standard class ticket?

Has Virgin confirmed that their conductor offered the upgrade or is that only from JC as a source?

Maybe if Virgin actually were a bit less ambiguous in their use of reserved seats then this need not have happened. They don't need to use the tickets they have the overhead display - that could just clear that allocation from reserved to free 5 mins after the departure from the planned reserved station. It's a stupid ill thought out system they use - most likely to increase the visible presence of the benefits of reserving and therefore locking you into using them.

despite the fact its not enabled cant you see the obvious flaw?

You have a reserved seat, 15 mins in you decided to go to the loo/get a drink/nip to see someone else you know is on the train/whatever

You get back 5 mins later and your seat that was once reserved that is no longer reserved is now occupied...

People should just think. Sitting in a reserved seat whilst people are still getting on the train or working their way to seats is likely (highly likely at commuter time) to have someone saying "oi my seat bruv" or similar.
Once the train has left the station its highly unlikely that anyone is going to come and try to claim the seat.

Alternately people could purchase tickets earlier and get a reserved seat themselves.
Someone needs to show Corbyn the rail ticket purchasing sites on that new fangled interwebz thingy, hes probably still confused why he cant find the British rail ticket office the poor old thing.

Where did all the people come to fill the empty seats from?

Perhaps one of the coaches was one of the old Royal Mail post office coaches with the arm that collected post from a bag hanging beside the line?

Maybe they all joined in a daring James Bond esq transfer from an adjacent moving train?

Have you ever been upgraded on a flight?

They typically upgrade people if they have unsold seats in the higher paying sections. Introduce the riffraff to the better seats and the next time they may pay for one the next time ;)

Maybe the conductor didn't even know the train wasn't full as he was coming from first class direction. So he offered some apparently senile old chap a better seat as he was sitting on the floor when perfectly good seats were available.
Care in the community ;)

Its being reported and as Virgin haven't leapt in to deny any and all knowledge. More on it was: JC had no seat and a family were asked for a free pass to first and accepted. JC then went and took that seat.

Maybe they were out of camera shot walking up the train... Maybe they were further up the train. Logical.

Don't forget the media eg PBC has repeatedly been found to be using clear bias against JC as per the Media Reform Coalition and also (while I loathe to give them some credence) the LSE also. The PBC being of course by far the biggest critic. So of course they have no agenda. This is not rocket science.

I've never been upgraded on a flight no. Because usually they don't have people standing on flights. As a very frequent air traveller I've actually never seen more people get on than there are seats and equally never seen someone bumped to first class. (obvious sarcasm intended).

Let the media have their little storm and the gullible believe what they tell them to think. Strange indeed. You know thinking about it I predicted this many posts ago in this thread that there would be a ramp up in smears consistently.

The train had departed 10 minutes previously! Why would people have still been walking around the train like that? If they were further up the train why wasn't JC able to sit in the empty seats they'd apparently yet to occupy?

Remember, one of the coaches had no reservations!

I don't know how often you use trains but generally by the time its been moving 10 minutes people have finished the whole find a seat thing.

You do realise that they consistently oversell seats as they know from history that its almost a 100% certainty that people will not turn up for a plane?

Funnily enough I was going to question how often you use trains. Generally its 4 or 5 times per week. One of the coaches had no reservations at one point. After that point it is conceivable they were taken hence the actions of the conductor.

Lets look at the other side to this as well, Virgin, massive multi billion pound brand currently prodding into private healthcare. Corbyn favours nationalised entities over private. Corbyn films a packed train that Virgin scour footage to try and disprove. In the process may find themselves in hot water (but having previously dealt with the ICO very unlikely). Passengers on the train validate what Corbyn said. Why would those people lie? Especially being Londoners - most of whom do not like Corbyn. Where are the anti-democratic mob on the train saying Corbyn was lying?

Virgin Trains wont be getting my business any time soon. #PayyourtaxBranson

The seat in the mostly empty carriage? How big was the family?!

100% certainty eh. I've yet to see it. The only place I've seen a plane with empty seats is in the US.

A train however is not a plane. So not sure what you are trying to argue. A train will sell tickets even if their is no space left. A plane by law is not allowed to do that.

Odd I did think you would reply asking about a number who were asked to move. Lets say it was a dad, mum and child sitting on her knee.... Then what?

Edit:
Oh JC has said a conductor did it. Video is online. Just watched.

Its at a press event about the NHS which again, surprise the media I influencing narrative and not reporting or doing their job. Why not focus on the Tory Election Fraud that died a death after a day and that the press kept quiet on?

People are unable to see the bigger picture clearly.

While this whole Traingate fiasco is entertaining what it getting overlooked is the underlyiing argument: how on earth does JC believe that renationalisation will actually bring any improvement? He's old enough to remember the day of British Rail how was that in any way an improvement over what we have now? Dirty rundown carriages trains that never arrived on time, not to mention the standard joke of the BR sandwich that curled up at the edges. If he thinks things will magically get better, if he thinks "ram packed" trains will somehow radically improve, what is his plan exactly? Run cattle trains back to back in convoy?! He doesn't seem to have thought this through at all. His only argument seems to be the politics of envy i.e. "Branson's wealthy, lets confiscate his property". There are so many people who seem to think he's some kind of bearded messiah, I think they're living in lala land.

There is more that can connect Corbyn with Stalin, especially when you account for progression to the modern era of politics and social media. Corbyn can't have MPs locked away or killed for disagreeing with his socialist stance these days, so tactics have changed. But there is plenty of overlapping sentiment if you look at it with pragmatism, rather than blind faith.

As I said, it was tongue in cheek as a true comparison isn't really valid after 8 decades of progression, but to deny any kind of similarity is ignorant. .

He's got more in common with Leon Trotsky I'd say, he's a trotskyite agitator. Unfortunately professional protestor and agitator appears to be all there is to him.

Then there are still around 10 seats empty...

I don't know why I'm really indulging you. It's clearly obvious that you're grasping at straws and not open to critically evaluating the evidence. Not sure anything can bring you back to reasoned discussion (assuming you ever were at the point of being able to have a reasoned discussion).

What? No the harassment started with the media sticking everything to Corbyn which by happenstance... Oh look is happening here. The Blairites are trying everything to get rid of him... Even making out he is anti-Semitic, twisting his words and then not having the mental capacity to deduce its meaning.

Corbyn supporters are annoyed because 60% of party members voted him in and now he is anti-democratically trying to be ousted. This man has made Labour the largest ever political party. Its got hearing 4x the next biggest membership and is more than double nearly all other parties (I heard floating around).

They even tried to get a Court injunction banning new members (Corbyn supporters) from being able to vote... And you think Corbyn supporters are the bullies? Who is on a mind altering drug again???

You forget, I'm quite a bit older than you and been here many times before with Labour and the likes of Eric Heffer, Michael Foot, Derek Hatton. It ended in tears then, total electoral disaster and it will end the same again.

You, like the rabid labour activists before you will never see it, they couldn't then just like you can't see it now. Britain is not a country of extremists, however much you may wish it were different and when push comes to shove people like you and like Corbyn are never going to gain power.

If you want a Labour government then it will have to be a centrist government. Mr Blair understood that well which is why he won three elections.

It's up to you at the end of the day RaohNS, you can learn the art of pragmatism or spend the rest of your life tilting at windmills.
