What film did you watch last night?

Saw bad moms too. And review exactly as above.
Very funny nonstop.
Strangely the best, if unexpected, movie of the summer tbh.

I had to do a double take at film of the summer but I think you may be right...I enjoyed this probably the most. I mean there are better movies but I can't remember them right now so that doesn't bode well for them!

X Men Days of Future Past. 8/10

Really enjoyed it, one of the best yet. Finally got through all of the X Men films after my other half bought the box-set of them all. Good stuff on the whole and am glad I caught up.

Flight. 6/10.

Strange film. The beginning was pretty intense. The middle rambled on a bit, and then the tone went weird for the 'morning after the night before' hotel scene before his interview and then it went sentimental.
Odd.

Now you see me 2

Garbage. Film is all over the place.

Nothing like as good as the first.

3/10

It was 100% classic hollywood sequel, every scene had to be bigger, longer, regardless of if it's good or not. The pacing was increased, less story more tricks or misdirection or whatever. Every scene with a trick had to be bigger and longer for no reason... like the card passing scene which in every single way possible was just terrible. Like, one of those scenes that will stand out as one of the worst scenes in a movie for the past 10 years.

It's kinda similar to the load of agent Smiths fight in, the second Matrix I think, the one on like a playground/basketball court. It was just too long, constant, non stop and utterly boring after 30 seconds. Had they thrown the card like twice, without the completely over the top bits it would be stupid but far less irritating same way the Smith fight with 10 smiths and for 2 mins tops (hopefully much less) and far less over the top would have been much more interesting and engaging.

Inside Out - 2/5

Was really looking forward to watching this after seeing how highly rated it was but I found the story really boring so it's the first Pixar film I haven't enjoyed.

Octopussy

After For Your Eyes Only the Bond franchise falls back into its bad habits again with things getting a bit too silly again, that said at the half way point the movie picks up and goes into a cold war thriller with car chases and Bond shooting Russians, a bit of a mix bag over all.

A View to a kill

Considering how all the other Bonds have end their Bond careers with disappointing films Moore last one is quite good. :)

Finding dory. 8/10

One of the best films I seen this summer.
Better that the first I think too but I'm mostly alone on that opinion.

Brooklyn

I should have watched this at the cinema in hindsight, it is that good.

Who do I describe it? a girl emigrates to New York to find a better life misses home, then a film plot moment that happened so she had to go back, then is torn about the 2 places. Sounds utterly dull but the biggest achievement in this movie is not only shows Saoirse’s character’s feeling, it is to make me feel the same torn she has. From her loneliness at the start, to the homesickness, to her getting to know about New York and adapting to her new life and then about three quarters of the way in I felt “how will she decide?” and thought to myself, damn this movie is good.

Saoirse is just amazing, I was totally drawn in through her eyes from the first scene, the performances were all strong and credit to the director (whom I’ve never heard of before) managed to maintain this low key tone that suits the film perfectly.

There are some faults, but they are minor niggles, I think it is as close to a perfect movie as I have seen in a very very long time.

9/10

Run Lola Run - 8.5/10

Can't believe this was made in 1998....I remember going to the cinema to see it!

I enjoy this film so much, even after the nth watch....theres always someone else to show it to.

I didn't realise until the other day that Franka Potente (Lola) is the same woman in the early Bourne films.

The Mechanic

Seen worse, I got what I expected from a Statham movie. Killed 90 minutes and I didn't get bored. I'll give it a 6/10.

Booked in to see Mechanic: Resurrection this evening.

Yes. Very weird, but well worth a watch. The sets and costumes and make up are great in a retro way. The descent into chaos is quite disturbing, because no one really seems to notice it...

High-Rise 8/10

Good novel. Good film. People who aren't politically wired may think of the story as having the same premise as Jurassic Park (think deeper than the dinosaurs being brought back to life; if you struggle, think Jeff Goldblum's job title, chat up approach in the jeep and arguments with Hammond), without the props and with more social commentary. Plenty of energy from the acting cast. But be forewarned: the film and the book step on a few taboos; in places, not for the squeamish, easily offended or fainthearted, though by modern standards it's not overly graphic stuff.
