What film did you watch last night?

I watched Malcolm X last night. It's long and it feels like it covers a lot. Quite an insight into something I don't know much about. Interesting to see what Nation of Islam is all about, as it gets referenced a lot by some rappers.

The Nice Guys.

This won't be to everyone's taste but it's a solid 9 for me. Dark, twisted sense of humour with enough twists to keep you going for the duration. This film, together with The Big Short has changed my opinion of Ryan Gosling completely. He was absolutely brilliant in this.

Imperium - Daniel Radcliffe playing an undercover agent to stop home grown terrorism. Thought it was alright, worth a watch i reckon. 6.8/10

War Dogs - True story about some young gun runners, a guy in his 20's wins a federal contract to supply the Afghan army, pretty unheard of for such young lads to do this. Enjoyable and absolutely crazy, i want to read the book now. 7.5/10

Octopussy

After For Your Eyes Only the Bond franchise falls back into its bad habits again with things getting a bit too silly again, that said at the half way point the movie picks up and goes into a cold war thriller with car chases and Bond shooting Russians, a bit of a mix bag over all.

A View to a kill

Considering how all the other Bonds have end their Bond careers with disappointing films Moore last one is quite good. :)

Durum Durum makes up for it. :D  :p

Bad Moms 7/10

I found most of the jokes quite funny and enjoyed Mila Kunis, as usual. The 3 leads did a good job of providing comedy in different ways.

Not as stupid as Bridesmaids but kind of similar.

War Dogs - 6/10. Wasn't too bad, I think it was vaguely advertised as a comedy which it wasn't, there were a few laughs just. Thought it dragged on a bit but was decent.

The Purge - 5/10. Alright at best, didn't understand why the ending with the mum, sure;y she'd regret that next year...?
The Purge: Anarchy - 6.5/10. Quite entertaining and some twisted concepts in it, like the rich people buying/kidnapping poor folk to 'purge'.

Agree with this, first film was a pretty big let down considering the initial premise.

Watched the third at the weekend, Election Year, one of the few horror series that's improving with each new movie.

The Nice Guys.

6/10, would have scored more if I hadn't seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang already. After 10 years, I was expecting something a little ... different.

Acting and comedy parts were all very enjoyable, I just felt like it was more of the same.

Jungle Book (2016)

Firstly I thought Neel Sethi was brilliant. Chosen out of 1000's of applicants Disney must have been smiling from ear to ear when they saw the first cuts of the film.
The CGI was top drawer and you could happily forget what was CGI and what was location.

The voice over cast was great with Bill Murray the stand out for me (okay child of the 80's with Caddyshack and Ghostbusters etc) so might be biased :)

9/10

Now You See Me 2

Good grief, just why :(

Awful over the top nonsense with the much talked about card swapping **** highlighting why the franchise should be put to sleep.

3/10 (on a second watch (which will never happen) this may be generous.

Charlie's Farm

Okay it was fairly obvious what I was in for plot wise, but the acting and over the top gore saw me reading a book part way through.

2/10

Non Stop (2014)

It was okay, nothing special but filled in an afternoon.

6/10

Tempted to watch Bad Moms after reading the reviews here. Until now I have ignored it as the last thing I saw Mila Kunis in was Jupiter Ascending which stank, I mean really just utter **** and she was shocking. Sounds like she may have redeemed herself with this one.

The Duel -- 6.5/10

Great potential. Good characters but with little flesh on them. Abraham's the most developed, yet he still fails to deliver the menace required of a western villain. Without a doubt, the narrative could've used another couple of drafts. The duels are alright as far as their staging goes, however. Some interesting tactical movement in the final scene, albeit it's still very downbeat. Although the Helena-style nonsense might appear gritty and true to the times to some, all I could think of was 'Beat It' throughout.

Ah well. Summary: A Red Dead Redemption quest ends up as a movie. Don't overthink it.

Sicario

Quickly becoming one of my favourite movies of all time. Dennis Villeneuve is exceptionally talented as a Director and Roger Deakins... well, what can you say? Lubezki is great and all, but Deakins has a way of shooting things that doesn't always come off as artsy pointless horse **** xD

It's still more of a horror movie to me then a thriller. Utterly spine chilling. Kate's character descending into the darkest recesses of the criminal and political underworld is so perfectly illustrated.

Exceptional film making.

Sausage party 4/10
If you've seen the trailer, you pretty much seen the film. What starts off quite amusing becomes annoying quickly. The end scene is funny though.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
7/10
Entertaining and nostalgic, stays true to the comics. Rocksteady, BeBop and Krang, need I say more.

You've put this far better than I ever could. I've watched it 3 times now and it gets better on each successive watch.

I watched it without knowing anything about it on a whim and it became my favourite movie of last year.

There is a new film out soon called Hell or High Water by the same writer which looks like it could be excellent. http://gb.imdb.com/title/tt2582782/

After everyone raved about it I was exceptionally disappointed in it. Much like No Country For Old Men it goes nowhere, slowly. Felt like it was unfinished/half a film. :)
