What have you done to your car today?

Volvo C30 T5 running V-power unleaded.

Not bad then :)

As if you had to ask. :p

I was curious as with rentals I've struggled to get that MPG from the D5 engine in more than one vehicle.

I always thought the Volvo petrol engines were pretty decent... but their diesels are some of the worst engines i've ever had the displeasure of using.

Not bad then :)

That isn't a typical figure on that road, a typical figure would be around 33mpg. I was driving at 50mph 90% of the journey in cruise control, the road was empty so no traffic, no one following me and didn't catch up with anyone but normally I would go 60mph on that road.

It's not the most thirsty engine in the world but there are certainly quicker engine in heavier cars that can achieve the same figure.

Decided to use my lights today due to the rain around Portsmouth, this is the first time since having my new for me Golf, I hadn't even gone out at night in curiosity to look at them. Anyway anyway... the point is all the dashboard lights work, even the needles light up, even the buttons on the door panel light up and what really surprised me is that even the radio buttons are back lit.

Probably not exciting to you lot but I went from a Rover 25 that I drove for 6 years where nothing worked to a VW Golf that's a year older and it still blows my mind how different these 2 cars are.

I'll probably be posting here again next week because I'll find something else.

Changed my fuel pressure sensor.

Should have been a simple one bolt job, but it was a torx head, with absolutely no room to get a tool to it and I almost ruined the head. Ended up removing thee plenum and throttle body so I could remove the fuel rail completely and do it off the car.

Not got my hands dirty for a while. Felt good!

Fitted a towbar to the smoker:-

More like I'm amazed they work for being a 16 year old car, and excited to see the interior all lit up! that "new" car feeling you know..

Interior ambient back-lighting barely ever breaks. :p

Wait til you find the wheel which controls the brightness, you'll blow your mind! :D (its next to the headlight level adjuster) :p

Filled up the windscreen washer fluid, glad I bought 4L of the stuff from Tesco this morning now as it took nearly the entire bottle.

Surprised the car didn't tell me it was getting low though, considering it knows everything else and will even find the nearest petrol station for you when the fuel gets low. Even my old Mazda had a light that would come on.

It hasn't got many miles on it has it? Just get a fast road clutch and leave the rest alone. That figure should get cut in half then.

I know with diesels its recommended to change the DMF along with the clutch, but most clutches don't give up at 60K~...

How much have you spent on this car since buying it? :p

EGR was only £50, That included having them reset the ECU and error codes.

Prob far too much money, but i plan on keeping it so I'm happy enough.

Clutch is dieing and DMF will need changing. Plus the front shocks are needing to be replaced.

Expensive car :P

Cars booked in for Stage 1 clutch, flywheel and gearbox oil refresh.

Cost £1300... ffs

This just seems absolutely nuts to keep throwing money at a Mazda3 diesel like this?

I hope you never ever sell it, because not only do the mods cost you a fortune, but they'll devalue it as the average Mazda 3 diesel buyer would not buy a modified example. Seems utterly mental to me, but whatever makes you happy :p

Well... it needs a new clutch. And the dmf is noisy so they have to be done....
I don't plan on selling any time soon.

I could just stick a stock clutch on at £500 total, but it will probably die in 10k miles. And I'm doing 14-18k per year.
