Overwatch

It terms of hero balance how is everyone finding it?

I would say Mercy will get a slight nerf to the speed at which her ult charges. It's non unusual to see her pull of multiple resurrections per game. Sometimes 5x or even more in 1 game.

Zarya is just ridiculous at the moment. She has everything, damage, aoe ultimate ability, ability to save teammates and ability to save herself. Not sure what aspect I would nerf, maybe needs increased cooldowns on her shields.

Soldier is kind of in a bad place because of how god damn effective McCree is at dealing out DPS.

Probably nerf her after people have purchased her for HOTS hahaha

What's wrong with Zarya? Most of the time as far as I can see people's problem with her is of their own making - when I play Zarya the amount of times the enemy Reinhardt decides to throw his fire-strike straight at me or their Symettra or Junkrat endlessly spam their orbs/grenades - thanks for the free charges!

If you don't feed Zarya like that it forces them to be more aggressive if they want to maintain their charge, and that's what puts them at risk from Reapers, Pharahs etc. once they push too far and can't easily pull back to recharge shields

Try playing as Zarya a bit if you're having trouble and you'll soon understand why she works so well and how to deal with her

Edit: And to the above - if you nerfed Zarya's charge rate she would be borderline unplayable... 50 charge Zarya is just barely good enough damage, not being able to consistently build up to that would make almost any other tank a better pick

People should stop shooting zarya as soon as her shield goes up, unless they are in a position to do an obscene amount of damage quickly (An ana ulted Reinhardt for instance) as that shield of her breaks after 200 damage is done, though obviously that will give her full charge.

Yeah Zarya is really strong but only if people feed her. She's probably my most played hero at the moment but some games I just have to switch off her because I'm not getting charge fast enough/at all.
When the enemy comp plays into her strengths they create a monster.

Shout out to that Roadhog trying to out heal my high charge beam and giving me massive ult charge.

Exactly... also funny when a D.va thinks the can escape the beam with defense matrix, then panics when it doesn't work and fires point-blank into the shield instead...

Don't feed her, and focus her down quickly as a team before she has too much opportunity to stick shields on her team-mates (which are much harder to avoid hitting sometimes - e.g. if she throws a shield on a Reinhardt-pinned team-mate just before impact)... That's basically it... Consider switching off of a hero like Junkrat if the other team have Zarya because of how hard it is not to leave perfect little charging stations exploding everywhere

I'm coming around to having Ana on the competitive team now as well, her Ult is so useful for pushes and a good player can sleep the big threats and use the biotic grenades for fast healing and to deny enemy Roadhogs from self-healing.

Apparently the new Meta is evolving to 3 Tank / 3 Support?

Any of our higher level people had experience of that?

What's high level? Not me I guess (~2600) but have seen quite a few 3-tank comps, though generally with 2 support and one damage (or sometimes mei)... The tanks tend to always include Zarya and Rein

I assume something like:

Frontline Tank: Reinhardt
Damage Tank: Zarya
3rd Tank: Roadhog/D.VA/Winston (depending on enemy team)
Primary Healer:Lucio
Secondary Healer: Mercy
3rd support: Ana/Zenyatta (Damage and healing)

Also - If an enemy team have a Genji and Mercy, I tend to pick Winston now to shut them down.

Had a stonking round with him on llios the other day because they had 5 squishy players. 35 eliminations in a 4 round game, most of them on the control point.

I havent seen many 3 tank setup, usually:

One Zen or Lucio is needed. Then either mercy, Ana or the other.

Mccree in most scenarios with tracer / genji / reaper. On koth, you can run tracer + genji.

Then zarya + either Reinhardt / Winston / roadhog, depending on map

Is anybody on fairly regular that wants to team up for some competitive games?

Ive played with quit a few people from here but more often than not there's just me on and i tend to be on most nights from about 9pm later at weekends.

Think im at about 2400.

I feel that matchmaking is completely broken. I think in the last 20-30 games I have lost 75%+.

More often than not I am against teams with premades whilst we have nothing but solo queue, or they have a premade of 4/5 people and we have 2 premades of 2. It's total trash. The MMing was actually pretty solid in Season 1 and Beta but this is absolutely BS. I'm actually fairly close to giving up with the Blizzard franchise entirely as they seem incapable of keeping anything working without breaking it. No balance whatsoever.

Just had a tale of two Overwatches in one game. First half I was Mcree on (I can never remember map names), the one where it's a Japanese garden like setting. So attacking first point I go in flash 2 as Mcree and barrel them both before starting dead eye, getting two with that and then finishing off a fifth. We can't quite get the end point due to the other team having a decent defence so no biggie. Second half, one guy leaves straight away. So we're down to 5v1. I'm hiding behind a Reinhardt when he/she leaves as well. Then everyone except me leaves. So it was me vs 6 hahaha. No chance.

I think competitive is a complete waste of time for the vast majority of people and you're just going to stay at the same rank.

Assuming 1/3 of your games you have a terrible team, 1/3 of your games you have an awesome team and 1/3 of your games both teams are evenly matched:

The first 2/3rds will even themselves out (win 5, lose 5 type thing). And so it's down to that last 1/3rd of games where your skill level will be the main deciding factor if you rank up or not. But here's the thing... You're already being matched with players of similar skill and there are 11 other people in every game, so your influence level in those last 1/3rd of games isn't going to be anything crazy and I would argue in most cases won't be consistantly winning you matches.

Of course things aren't always perfectly even, but in principle this makes sense (to me at least).

So unless you're pairing up with people you know are good and who communicate and work together, I really don't see the point in playing competitive

Just started my ranking games, having got back from holiday. Going better than S1 with 3 wins in 5 so far, including a loss due to leaver.

Your own skill and performance is what decides EVERY match.

I have no idea why people believe this game is uncarryable. If you play better than the enemy team you will win more. It's undeniable.
