Not really the same thing. High octane fuel like VPower has a specific purpose. Various high performance engines recommend high octane fuel for optimum efficiency and performance (as well as keeping the engine in good health), yet advise against using external additives.
 
Yup... mine reduces the power if you stick 95 in... you can feel the difference too.

I swear I can feel the difference between 98 and 100 too, but it's smaller so it might just be placebo... I'm not sure if they're fixed maps or dynamic.

Well it's partly thanks to you I did it - when you mentioned it may not need recalibration I did some more research and decided it was worth a try :)

Makes what I did to the X-trail this weekend look like child's play....installed a new front dogfight (again :/ ) and replaced the rear washer pump.

Pic to show it is actually fixed - took it on a long drive to Italy this morning and it performed great.

It does sound as though the (Jag) system is more sensitive than Merc/Land Rover, though. With Merc Airmatic it doesnt matter what you do really, the system self checks and levels automatically (in theory :p)
 
Decided that after it's respray I will be replacing all of the fixings so went and got all new fixings for front and rear bumpers, new numberplates & fixings as well as the parts to fix an oil leak I have been chasing.

So far in the chase for this leak I have replaced the AOS, variocam solenoid seal and all spark plug tubes and seals in this bank. All of these were leaking, now I have a slight weep and the last port of call (and I was hoping that it wouldn't be this) is a crush washer on the cam chain tensioner on the bank for cyl 1-3. Looks like a mammoth amount of work for replacing a 85p washer and £1 o-ring.

Not looking forward to it at all tbh. Will need to lock the cams and engine at tdc on the compression stroke for that bank just to do the job :(

Good question, bought it on 67k 5 years ago, it now has 80,888 on the clock. This year so far is a good year for it as it has covered about 1500 miles so far. Right now I am on a mission to make it perfect :)
 
Day 463 in car buying saga.. Put deposit down on car b as they still didn't have a v5 for car a. Get halfway to the dealer on the train and my train gets cancelled so I have no way of getting there before they shut. Will try again tomorrow :o :p :D if I believed in fate I would think this wasn't meant to be...
 
I Started polishing my car after I got home from work at 4.30pm...(Had to wash & dry the whole car first)

clay bar then polished and then waxed the bonnet + both front wings + 2 wheels..



I was really enjoying it and really wished I had more time to finish the whole car..:(

It is, ok so had a look at the MOTs and my numbers are slightly out.. it goes something like this in my ownership according to it's mot history.

2010 - 2011 - 65,017 miles
2011 - 2012 - SORN
2012 - 2013 - 65,460
2013 - 2014 - 71,904 (SORN from feb to October for an engine rebuild and I couldn't afford it straight away as I just bought a house)
2014 - 2015 - 73, 625
2015 - 2016 - 77, 368

So yea not a lot of miles and I think in total off the road for approximately 2 and a half years in my ownership. Sometimes taxed and insured but just broken :) This has been one of the longest periods of the thing actually working since I have had it. If I added up cost per mile I would probably want to kill myself. ( I might do a ownership thread at the 6 year mark to give the full story)

I used my sun visor today and decided to open the little door on the inside, as expected it's a mirror but omg :eek: there is a light behind there too! /mindblown
