Personally I'm more likely to buy a Samsung device in the future because of what's happened. I've been impressed at how quickly they have been able to start rolling out replacement devices, and while not everyone has had a good experience, you can imagine just how manic the support lines must have been in the days after the announcement, probably having to hire in many times as many untrained staff to help man the lines.
Personally from the outside it sounds like they dealt with it extremely well in the circumstances, though I understand those with devices might not have thought so.
The main reason though is that we know Samsung will deal with it. Would you trust companies with less resources to deal with this? Some of the cheaper Chinese upstarts, or any company outside of the big 4 (Samsung, Apple, Microsoft and Google)? Would they even acknowledge a fault or just sweep it under the carpet? I don't know, and that's why I'd consider a Samsung more now than I would have done before this recall.
