Hornets are fantastic all round bikes. You'll have no issues with build quality.

This.

I really want to get some new forks for mine (unrideable atm :() and chav it up a bit with a new exhaust etc :D.

Not too sure why the SV650 seems to be more popular than the Hornet with people on this forum (Hornet has more power, looks nicer and has a CBR engine!). Can the SV650 be ridden on A2 or something?

Looks like I'll be looking into a cheap Hornet then. Insurance is only £220 a year which is fine too.

I agree, I much prefer the look of a Hornet to a SV650

Don't tell me you've never watched Ghostrider?!. He's got 6 films out - general insane riding on a turbo Hayabusa, police chases etc. :D. Make sure you find the real ones though, lots of copycats on YouTube.

(Not the Nicolas Cage film)

Word on the streets is he died a few years ago when he hit a bridge.

Honda CBF125 is all you need, they all have the same power, they are all slow, get the cheapest one.

Agreed, which is why I want a CBF / YBR for commuting and a Mito / RS for fun. I'll get one anyway because I love two strokes so when I get my full licence I can derestrict it and go nuts.

I did think about looking for a cb400 but thought they were rare?

Yeah they are, import only. There's a few knocking about, and TBH the (lack of) power really isn't an issue unless you're trying to race a car with 300+bhp. Plenty of go for overtakes etc. they only tend to struggle over 70-80mph. 0-60mph, 5 seconds.

Can pick them up for £1000-1500 or so, the rarer VTEC versions ('99 onwards) just disabled 2 valves under 7k rpm for a bit more torque lower down, and they go for £1500-£2k in decent nick.

55mpg, 200 miles to a tank, 160 rear tyre so cheaper than a 180, and for me (35, 1 years NCB, 10k miles a year, TPFT not garaged, under £100 a year. Less places will insure being a grey import, but I've had no issues getting it under £100 a year for 2 years now.

Something to look into then, Paul. I'd love to ride my R6 all year but I don't like her getting wet....... :p

Exactly, my Tuono is dry weather only (unless I'm touring and it rains) and as soon as the roads get salted it'll get tucked away until spring.

Just did a quote for when my insurance will be due in December, 2 years NCB, 2 years licence, garaged is £80 TPFT or £111 fully comp, not garaged is £98 TPFT or £133 fully comp.
