I much prefer jumping in the Civic and being able to drive off, wait a couple minutes *maximum* before we're at such temperatures I can kick that VTEC, y0.
With the BRZ we're looking at 3-5 minutes for the oil to get up to a temperature so the pressure isn't too high, so it's either wait for it for a few minutes or try to keep it below 1500rpm. I'm fairly sure it's on 5w30 so it's not as if it's anything crazy like 10w50 race spec oil.
I'd like to say mpg doesn't worry me to a certain respect, but not being able to maintain at least 22mpg when I'm feathering the power-pedal like miss daisy on a daily drive (or 30mpg on a motorway cruise between 50-70) was somewhat disappointing from a 280bhp car, I'd not mind so much if it were running mad power, in fact I think my 400hp Impreza had better MPG and that was not driven slowly by any means, guess it's the devil of supercharged life.
RE: Supercharger, from the cabin, you don't know it's there unless you're at 6000+ and at that point it's really not that distuingishable at all, so yeah, I think I prefer the induction noise of the HKS RSK on VTEC

It's also very linear, again obviously a characteristic of SC so that's not that entertaining (or not as much as VTAK), though I'm perhaps biased as I've had faster turbo cars that you really feel.
In summary, I suppose the BRZ isn't a great daily car at all, not that it was built nor intended to be, I was probably naive in thinking I would be okay in running it daily when I bought it. It's a shame I never really got to push hard with it on a proper track, but there's no way its track performance would've outweighed the cons of daily driving.
Also, I wouldn't say this is a major contribution towards returning the BRZ, but it was certainly there; I had a niggling worry in the back of my mind when pushing on that it's RWD and therefore death, crash, bendy metal due to a rather bad experience with my WRX STI last year
Saying that, I am tempted to pick up a cheap Mx5 to have some fun and destruction on track with if insurance allows it in a few months.
The one thing going from FWD (and AWD) to RWD is that I definitely wasn't expecting the levels of wheelspin or rear wheel traction loss that existed when hitting the loud pedal.
What are you looking at getting next grudas?
