1070 and Gsync 144hz monitor = flicker

Try changing those to single display performance mode and adaptive power - unless you are running more than one screen.

Gents, there is no issue with the hardware.
The 144hz flickering and artefacts on desktop is a known driver issue since May with all Nvidia pascal cards.
And is completely irrelevant if is gsync or not.
Only the 368 drivers didn't had this issue. All others do.
There is a huge rage at the official forums and no response from NV.

The only way to fix this is to boot the pc into Windows with the monitor off.
Or turn on-off the monitor while in windows. The issue is sorted until you reload the OS.

Please note this issue doesn't exist in the linux drivers.

I had sort of assumed that it was a driver issue. But was interested in other people's comments.

Though in my case, capping the refresh rate to 120hz does appear to sort it. only a work around obviously.

Though changing the two settings in the nvidia control panel that Rroff mentioned, does also appear to sort it for me and allows me to put the refresh rate back up to 144hz. Though I suppose it might be a random problem that will re-appear again. Time will tell☺

It appears every time you boot to windows.
Set the monitor to 144hz, and just follow my advice above.

If this issue was on AMD drivers, everyone was going to be critical to AMD asking for heads to roll.
Now Nvidia has crap driver for 5 months, plenty of complains on their forum about it, but in here there is total silence.
And let's not forget that all 1080s are capped at 1.093v, throttling the moment they hit 32C.

Let us know how you get on with those settings - I'm 90% sure there is a bug with optimal power and multi-monitor acceleration when used in conjunction.

I had issues at 144hz so i just set to 120 at desktop and where i can set to 144hz in game. Kinda a ball ache but less of one putting up with high clocks in 144hz. Don't think nvidia have fixed the high clocks in 144hz on desktop because i still get it.

Mine drop back to 139MHz with the 1070 fine at 1440P/144Hz - I'm pretty sure the problems are due to the new default settings nVidia is using with 370 drivers onwards having some issues.

O'dear... flicker back for no apparent reason.

Only way to prevent it at the moment, looks to be to limit the re-fresh rate to 120Hz!

I had something similar to use using the DP port on my 1080GTX, but moving into another DP on the card solved the issue. The flicker would be mostly noticed when minimising or maximising a window from say the task bar

I have the same EVGA graphics card paired with an ASUS rog swift monitor at 144Hz + latest nvidia drivers (373.06) installed and I don't see any noticeable flickering.

Although I did have some other issues such as webpages glitching when scrolling. I sorted this issue out by using DDU to remove old drivers and doing a clean install of the latest drivers.

Hope that helps.

Same card as me and "same" drivers. Weird....

PS. I also used DDU (latest version) prior to installing my new card / latest Nvidia drivers.

Came across this thread after ordering a 1070 and an Asus VG248QE - any points to note when setting this up? e.g. latest drivers ok?

Just try the latest nvidia drivers and see how it goes.

Not sure if the flicker issue is related only to gsync monitors, or all high re-fresh rate ones. You'll soon know if you have this problem, you can hardly miss it. Strange thing is, not everyone has the problem and some, as I've said before, appear to have been able to sort it, with one tweak or another. Only thing that sorts it for me (and many others) is to cap the re-fresh rate to 120Hz.

I'm sure you will be fine.

It is a strange one, As I have said previously I can run @ 144hz on the desktop (G sync monitor) with no problem. It must be certain combinations/components used that is causing this issue as if not you would have thought everyone would suffer from it.

I just did a clean install of the drivers when I went from a 980ti to a 1080. Let us hope Nvidia get to the bottom of it.
