Jag looks great such a classic looking motor. I didn't know they ever made a convertible version![]()
....which makes it quite rare too.
I fail to see why a luxury brand car should be motability

are you getting this on Motability?..
I maybe should just stop taking the car tax and go for a car as my son is on high rate

It's just a lease. Instead of receiving your disability benefits as cash it is paid directly to the car seller as the monthly lease payment. The more expensive the car is the more upfront payment you have to make. So a 1.6 focus is no upfront cost whilst an A class Mercedes would require maybe £1500- £2000 upfront payment.

The cost to the taxpayer is exactly the same whether the person takes no car, an automatic Corsa or a Mercedes.
Although they did try a list price cap a short while ago.
Yeah, I found out what happened with that.
The car companies were annoyed at the limit as it meant lower orders for their more expensive models, so they threatened to cut the heavy discounts they give on motability cars. That would have made even lower models very expensive deposit wise, so motability relented and lifted the limit.
. My local BMW dealer have a massive banner strapped to the front of the dealership with "Motability" on which basically just cheapens the whole brand.
how can anyone afford to spend there benifits on them I don't get it.There should be a price cap on motability cars the whole system is probably more abused than any other benefit. Why does someone who is too disabled or sick to work need a 30k BMW or Audi or a sporty 25k low down hot hatch with rock hard suspension. My local BMW dealer have a massive banner strapped to the front of the dealership with "Motability" on which basically just cheapens the whole brand.
I know so many people who claim a car and treat it like crap because everything is paid for and younger people can get them to save paying massive insurance prices. I worked with a girl who quit her job to become a paid carer for her mum and Dad who both claimed disability despite being fine and they were driving a brand new Audihow can anyone afford to spend there benifits on them I don't get it.
The whole system is a joke

It doesn't matter what they drive - it doesn't cost you or I any more than it would if they took the bus.
. The system was designed for the genuine people who have real disabilities and need certain forms of transport but the cars available on it are laughable and unsuitable for most genuine recipients. Sorry my rant wasnt aimed at you I just quoted your post to say in general about the motability scheme being badly abused by fake claiments. Can we just leave it now. This is a show us your motors thread, which I did. It's not the thread to be discussing the fairness of the welfare system. If you want to do that, make a post in GD or SC.
