What have you done to your car today?

I went up that way on Sunday with the intention of driving the Llanberis pass. The A5 was so slow I threw in the towel and went home via Ffestiniog/Bala. I think the trick for the A roads is just to go late evening when the days are at their longest.

I stopped in that very spot a few weeks ago. Camped at Glen Nevis to ascend Ben Nevis however one day we drove up the coast and just kept going and going. Everywhere you turn it stunning. I ended up doing over 1000 miles in 4 days as well as some serious walking (Carn Mor De Arete to Ben Nevis). Epic drive for you though!

Great roads up there. Smooth, steady and great scenery.

Wow. Fantastic idea for a pic too.

Replaced the xenon bulbs on my Jag, which was an absolute **** of a job. Took me 3 hours and I had to sacrifice most of the skin on my hands. It's apparently easier if you take the bumper off, but the idea of having to remove the entire bumper and both light units just to change two bulbs is insane. First bit of truly stupid design I've found on this car, in general most things are relatively simple to change.

took in Hardknott and Wrynose pass. Which is quite, errr... interesting in a 5 Series :eek:

I've driven Hardknott several times. Once in the middle of the night to get some astrophotography up at the Roman fort.
The last time I was up there was in an A8 and some of those turns on the hills had the car on 3 wheels due to the angles.

It was the right bulbs then in the end. That's good :)

It wasn't so much the passes themselves but more the approach roads - which are just as narrow but without many defined passing places and high hedges both sides. Then somebody comes the other way in a van..

anyone have any tips for removing brake nipples? mine are seized/stuck..

spoke with the local garage and they were -;

if it's stuck/snaps then you're gunna need new calipers.

that's a lot of money for just wanting to change my brake fluid.

Release spray or some heat would be your best bet.

Your other option (one i've used for a lot of things now) is let it snap and then drill, tap and insert a threadcert or helicoil. Not only is this generally regarded as stronger than a thread set in the original metal but it also means you wouldn't need new callipers.

Total cost if you gave it to a machine shop would be about £20 a calliper.

Loads of parts of my car now sport helicoils including both rear hubs, both heads (head to manifold), callipers (seized nipples). TBH the list goes on. Some I did myself, others I passed to a machine shop local to me.

all 4 calipers can be had from ebay for £270...

Imma take a blow torch to the nipple and torch it before cooling it off quickly to see if it moves.

my last go at it really!

funniest quote I got today -;

main dealer - £48
random small indy - £100+vat

for the same work.

Get new callipers and then repair and sell yours :) win win :)

Have you used this stuff before? I keep seeing the use of BG44K Power Enhancer to clean the injectors for a cleaner combustion.

Worth it?

Currently got the Focus ST at the bodyshop having the bonnet resprayed and the wings blended in.

Cruising around in a courtesy car: 05 Toyota Aygo Sport 1.0 litre with 3 cylinders.

A grand total of 67BHP. Power.

The clutch is slipping I have to jump off the pedal to get it to move and the gear stick feels like it isn't even connected to a gearbox. I can now see why the OAP's rev the nuts off these things. Roll on Saturday.

I'm in a Citroen C3 courtesy car while my car is waiting for a replacement brake light switch. No idea what the engine size is but I have to rev the balls off it to make it even think about moving.
And it's purple. :mad:

Came back from holiday to find some kind person while reversing out of the space next to me, felt the need to give my car a little brush and proceed to remove the paint from my bumper.

Will the whole bumper need spraying to repair it or just the section offended? It's only the bit in front of the wheels to a crease before the fog light, however it's gone down quite deep.
