I've got it to work on my A6, which is slightly older tech, so we don't have the car finder. I've done it through the Audi Android app and directly from google maps. Are you going into the correct options to retrieve it when in the car? This is where I initially went wrong, I though it should be within my directory. I think the correct option was "online destinations". Have a look and if you can't find it I can confirm when I have a enough energy to drag myself outside to the car.

I've just seen the pictures of the new Q5, and disappointingly they are following the trend with the A4 and A5 to stick a tablet on the dash. I cannot believe there are people that like this. Do they not get feedback that it just looks like someone forgot their tablet in the car and does not look good at all? Or am I on my own here. Either the previous A4/Q5 where the screen is integrated or the current A6/Q7 where the screen can be hidden would be better.

To be fair Q5 and A4 are the same car essentially and the dash is prob the same, let's hope the new A6 has it better integrated, even the BMW 5 series has it stuck on. Not a fan at all myself.

Mine's now actually in the UK. No idea where, but it's in the UK 
Has anyone had their car in the software/hardware change due to EA 189?
Had a letter yesterday telling me they they'd be in touch soon regarding if it needs to be recalled.
So i had a bit of a read up to see what the recall action consists of, and what implications this has for the car - performance/economy etc.
As mines a 1.6 it appears it needs a software and hardware change, and will need to be fitted with a "flow transformer" device - helps calculate the correct amount of fuel and air being combusted.
However Audi don't seem to give any official information regarding the implication of the software update and hardware change. The article i read touches on compensation claims from various countries, and it seems UK/EU owners have been rejected compensation on the grounds that the repairs will have no impact on the cars performance or economy.
However i'm a little concerned that the repairs are likely to push the emissions up, and thus cost more in VED.
Anyone able to comment on the changes?

VED is based on reported CO2 emissions at the point of registration. It is not retrospectively changed.
I personally wouldn't do it. The fix HAS to affect something. If they could get the same performance and economy for the amount of emissions produced, then why cheat in the first place?
I have heard, anecdotally of course, that some people who have done the change have had significant losses is economy, or performance, or both. I personally wouldn't do it unless there was either some form of compensation, or you were forced to for warranty purposes or the likes.

I've had the "fix" done (granted software only) to my 2.0TDIe A4 and my butt-dyno can't tell if there's a performance deficit. My economy figures seem comparable to this time last year also.

Surely if the amount of NOx emissions exceeds guidelines without the cheat device, then it wouldn't be allowed on the road?

Very nice but you should have pushed the rear headrests down before you took the pictures
, my A4 is now in the country and I am going over tomorrow to do the paperwork so I might have some pictures. Collect the car week on Friday...
