Those "HOLY MOLY" moments...

Deus Ex - Wow, I can actually kill Anna Navarre and the game reacts to it?!

Unreal Tournament - first discovery of the Redeemer. So what does this do? *click* before instantly crashing it into the ground/wall infront of you and gibbing half the building

Final Fantasy 7 - final stage of Sephiroth, instant limit break, wow ok, that was lucky! "Omnislash" ...what the heck is Omnisl..aaaSSSHHOMGGG

Running HL2 for the first time and experimenting with the physics engine/puzzles. I remember being amazed at the water as well.

Uncharted 2, several of the set pieces including running from the truck and the infamous train level

The opening to The Last of Us

Arkham Knight, summoning the batmobile for the first time as well as first ejector seat into glide

Getting the mavity gun and playing ball with Dog in HL2 was a moment of joy for me. My eldest boy just started playing HL2 yesterday on the 360 we've now let him have in his room... hearing those distinctive HL2 sounds and voices sends tingles down the neck.

Coming out of the sewer in Oblivion and seeing all that exporable landscape ahead gave me a wow moment too.

Doom3 when the first Pinky appears was holy **** moment :D

Built brand new PC on Boxing day in 2008, installed COD Modern Warfare which was a Christmas present.

Opening mission landing on the tanker with the SAS in a thunderstorm...wow!

Doom 2

Being chased by a cyberdeamon for the first time

Half-Life

The opening monorail sequence and then when the experiment went wrong, I was so drawn in I nearly **** my pants

GTA Vice City - Riding a motorcycle down Ocean Beach with Billie Jean playing on the radio

Red Dead Redemption - After the opening few missions when you first have to go to Armadillo and get to look out over the map from the top of the cliff. Also the music when you first get into Mexico

Battlefield Bad Company - Killing a camping sniper by collapsing the building he was in.

World in Conflict - The Liberty Lost cut scene

WoW - Getting to Howling Fjord for the fist time as alliance on the ship. Also the Wrathgate and re-taking of the Under-city quest lines.

t rex moment in tomb raider 1 but i was like 10 :)

Damn, read all the way through the thread to see if anyone mentioned that!

I've had plenty of "wow" moments since I started gaming in the late 70's but for some reason the T-Rex in Tomb Raider is probably my most memorable and totally unexpected.

Not PC I admit, but the bit in Halo 3 when the huge ship (Pillar of Autumn?) swoops in to drop off some tanks and warthogs. Jaw was on the floor for that.

I'm really tempted to buy an Xbox on the cheap just for the Halo games. I await in hope that the Master Chief Collection gets released for Windows 10 but I think I might be waiting forever...

Lord of the Rings Online - Exploring Moria for the first time

Vampire the Masquerade - Ocean house Hotel (those that have played it will remember this I'm sure).

Baldur's Gate 2 - Getting to the end after completing almost every quest on the way.

Final Fantasy VII - Multiple points in the story

Best soundtrack and perhaps the best gta game imo! Running all the businesses made you feel like the king :D

Yeah that was definitely my favourite. Though 5 was pretty awesome... just wish it had more of what 3 was like. But with current graphics etc.

KOTOR

If you've played it you know what I mean. Tempted to replay them both again thinking about it :D

Possibly, wouldn't rule it out completely though.

Combat Evolved and 2 we're great for their day, but it all came together perfectly with 3 IMHO, and lost it's way ever since :(

Its worth it for xbox imo, i never had an xbox so never got to play halo 1 and 2 so was good to play them. Also can flick between new and originals graphics which is fun. End of halo 2 was annoying tho.

Resident Evil 2
On the console but when the dogs jumped through the window, I almost had a freaking heart attack

I remember that well but was not that in the first Resident Evil at the mansion?

With no idea what the game was.

Gran Turismo, running replay mode. Import copy, released a week earlier in japan.

Aside from VR, the most Impressive 'wow' ever for me.

Bloodborne

Lots of great moments in the game, but the one that I remember most was fighting Ludwig the Accursed. The lore built Ludwig up to be a real badass, one of the true great hunters, famed for using greatsword. But when you arrive he's succumbed to the same fate as everybody else, becoming a malformed, blood drunk beast.

However, mid way through the fight he falls, unsheathing his moonlight blade and re-kindling some of his lost humanity. The visuals are awesome and the music swells into something truly epic as the boss name changes to Ludwig the Holy Blade. I remember getting shivers all over, truly amazing moment.

Several life moments. Space Invaders on Atari 2600 March 1981, followed by several other games Missile Command, Asteroids, Defender and many more all totally blew me away (12 at time). Few years on Vetrex got me (shorter period). Long wait till mega drive/Super Nintendo and SFII and FZero. Few years on Magic Carpet on PC along with Tie Fighter on floppy disc. Forsaken, Incoming and Quake 2 on 3dfx blew my mind. (Had Playstation, PS2, Xbox & Xbox 360 in between) HALF LIFE took it to another level on PC with depth along with C&C and Warcraft II. Wasn't till Bioshock I got the wow buzz and from then on its all been a bit 'meh' but definitely still moments that I still enjoy. I'm waiting on the next thing to give me that buzz.
