US: **The Walking Dead Season 7 - Contains Spoilers - No future content to be discussed **

Ironically the one thing about Negan that they've had to tone down from the comics is his language. That guy swears like a monster trucker.

I think I'm almost a little disappointed with the TV Negan. Mostly for this reason.

And it's not like US TV isn't shy of swearing. I watched 4 eps of Vice Principles last night and the language is shocking :D

Negan has some great lines in the comics. Hopefully TV Negan gets a few good ones. There were a few but not enough.

TV Negan is also a bit smaller than comic Negan. The actor looks smaller than when he was in Boardwalk Empire but might just be the clothes. He's in AntMan as well.

Yes, following the source material is "pulling something shocking out of the bag" to stop the show losing its way.

I never engaged with any pre season spoilers or speculation and haven't read the comics so it was all new to me. I think they've played their highest hand though and can't see how they could pull anything more shocking out of the bag once people become acclimatised with the human gore.

Initially I thought the zombies in the early seasons looked more realistic and in later seasons I think they look very latex like, so it becomes stale or unconvincing eventually.

Yeah Negan in the comic is built like a brick **** house. I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan does a great job though in his own way (granted we have only really seen him in one episode so far if you discount the last 10 minutes of season 6).

I recently saw an interview with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and he said that there will be episodes that have a silly amount of swearing to the extent that it started embarras him!

Personally i still think the governor was more of a bad ass. Negan just seems to be shocking/brutal rather than the governor who was brutal but also psychological. I was kind of sad when the governor went but right now i don't think Negan will make me feel the same. I don't know if it was the rivalry with Rick or what? To the people saying about having episodes like this and then 'filler' episodes i really couldn't see them banging out an episode like this every week. It would literally be exhausting to watch and they'd be forever trying to out do the week before.

This episode is here to set the tone and we'll now see how they re-group, what's happened to the ones left behind at Alexandria, the medieval world guys and Morgan and Carol. There's so much to see and get through! I cant wait. :)

Last nights episode did get me right in the feels though. :( I liked both characters but i guess you have to lose some at some point?! After Glen last season i was prepared for it to happen properly anyway.

The issues with the 'fillers' though is that the core storyline barely seems to move along. I can understand that not every episode needs to be a rollercoaster but it needs to be done better. Season 1 and 2 got it right in my opinion.

Dont get wrong I love TWD and I really want Season 7 to be different to my usual experience.

I'm sure Negan will get more colourful with his language but last night didn't require any additional dialogue, last night was mainly about Rick vs Negan and for Negan to come out on top Abraham, Glenn and Daryl to an extent had to be sacrificed but the effect through the group should be cataclysmic.

I'm wary about filler episodes because they are bad and slow but this season we know we have Negan, Ezekiel, Carol, Morgan, Daryl, Hilltop and the Kingdom to explore and that should take a good chunk of episodes to cover. Edit: Forgot about Jesus Munroe too!

Also I'm way past the point of hoping they all go and kick Negan's ass or something good happens for them cos it just ain't going to happen - he will be integral to every sub plot this series and probably next season for at least a few episodes. They're not exactly going to kill him off when they've already commissioned Season 8 though his death will probably be the most brutal yet and probably include a hatchet. Best I'm hoping for this season is that Morgan finally snaps and goes bat poo crazy against Negan's crew with Carol in over watch with a knife and sniper rifle.

thing it was a great episode never got why the show wasnt a bit more graphic. its a zombie apocalypse not disneyland.:D

i like gore and a bit of a odd one.thought the scenes were great and what i would expect.

hated glen so im kinda glad it ended.figured out old carrot top would get it didnt think glen would but some nooblet just before watching came in my teamspeak and blurrted it out  so i did know just as i watched it.

i hope the show now with a bit of the dead weight removed now steers with a purer more graphic show i dont think it will there will obviously be some milking light episodes but there does need to be.doesnt there? otherwise thosee moments like in this episode wouldnt be so shocking .

only thing im kinda worried or bothered about is how they going to do rick in the future eps. is he going to be the mental weakling then come back like terminator at the last episode.hope its good.this ep was great.couldnt of done it much better.

the language as anyone who knows was sorta like texan meats clint eastwood.dont say much but you get the full meaning.

I think that people have magically forgotten that it wasn't too long ago that a group of cannibals had people over a trough, smacking on the head with a baseball bat and throats cut...

Maybe as its boring as heck most of the time.

Haha you know what......thats sooo true.

It was shocking but when you think about it Ricks group had it coming. I mean, they sneaked into one of Negans bases and knifed everyone in the head while they slept. They deserved retribution.

Really interesting take on it. In many ways Rick has been (nearly) as ruthless as Negan for the interests of his own group. I am sure if we had started the walking dead from the perception of Negan and his saviours then we would probably be cheering him on bashing the living hell out of both Abraham and Glen.

was awesome.

However why did no-one suggest offing rick in favour of doing a deal. All this carnage going off id like to think in real life the whole lets rebuild our race and work together to beat the walkers would take priority over the humans beating humans one up man ship thats going on.

Although that probably wouldn't make good tv

LOL.. That's true in part. I enjoy the shows and haven't read any of the books, so don't have any pre-conceived expectation of where the story is heading. Boring is too strong a word, there has to be a narrative for the characters so folk become attached and follow the journey they take. Every episode cannot be a gore-fest simply for the shake of it. The characters make the show so we need to know who they are and were.

I was gutted that we lost Glenn, he was a nothing character to begin with but grew into one of the strongest and most determined single-minded amongst the cast. I suspect how his loss impacts and galvanizes Maggie will be interesting.

I expected the episode to be full-on, it wasn't any more gory or brutal than many of the scenes in the past, but the build up was more intense and measured so I guess amplified the brutality of the events. That said "Negan" was more style over substance which felt a bit-off, though as the show progresses I imagine the back story will unfold. Just how broken Rick is will undoubtedly be one story lines to come.

Enjoyed it, Negan was a bit Meh... but it still grips you for an hour once a week.

If you want boring, try Westworld.

LOL I do watch Westworld, I find it enjoyable, intriguing and thought provoking. Ok boring may have been a little strong.. Maybe tedious is the right word.

I thought the guy playing Negan nailed it to be honest.

Yup I agree!

I thought it was good stuff, but he struck me as the first character to be a 'comic book villain' right from the off. If he'd had a moustache I would have expected to see him twirl the end of it and raise his brow. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is a cracking actor though, I'm sure things will go up a notch or two as time progresses. Still gutted we lost Glen

Great series from start to finish so far, just forum nit-picking really as you do...;):)
