US: **The Walking Dead Season 7 - Contains Spoilers - No future content to be discussed **

Hmm, dunno what I thought of that. A step too far from a zombie "drama"? Almost certainly. I do feel like it was a reaction to the popularity of GoT and other popular shows, regardless of it being in the comics or not, I mean as far as I'm aware they have ignored vast amounts in the comics already haven't they?

From watching the talking dead it does seem like this isn't going to be a one season arc, this is going to carry on through several seasons (they were talking about season 10 and beyond), which as much as I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be dragging the whole thing on too long I think. I do agree with the writing missing Darabont though, that has become more and more apparent the longer it goes on.

Seriously, are people forgetting about all the previous brutality that has happened in this show? :p

- Dale getting his stomach torn apart
- Hershel getting his head hacked of with the katana
- Maggie performing the c-section whilst she was still alive and without any form of pain medication and then having Carl "end" his mum
- cannibals whacking people on the head with a base ball bat and then slicing their throats like they were cattle and then showing them eating people's body parts
- Rick and his group going full machete on the terminal/cannibal guy in the church
- Carl about to get raped by the motorbike gang ending with Rick ripping the old guys throat out with his mouth and then ramming his knife all the way up the guys chest
- Governor getting stabbed in his eye with glass
- children being brutally killed, both zombie children and alive ones, you don't really see this happen with the big zombie films let alone many horror films....
- Rick chopping of the hand of his new girlfriend followed by Carl's eye getting skimmed by a bullet ending with Michonne sticking her katana through the kids chest

Amongst many other brutal deaths.

And yes, this is going to be dragged out to at least season 8, if not more.... given how powerful Negan and his group are, so powerful that Rick and his group will have to join up with the hilltop community + those kingdom guys (the ones that saved Morgan and Carol and the guy in charge who has the tiger) as well as a couple of other groups iirc, so that is a whole load of new characters and plot lines to introduce.

But who knows, they could go in a completely different route to the comics.

I remember everything they have done previously, I don't however think it was ever as graphic as that last episode. It's a very fine line admitedly, but I just think they went too far this time. It seemed to be graphic for the sake of it rather than actually advancing or improving the story in any way.

Well you could say the exact same for most, if not all the above as well.... Was there any need to show Dale getting his stomach torn apart? Was there any need to show people getting hit on the head with a base ball bat then having their throats slit to bleed out? Was there any need to show Rick and his group going ham on that guy in the church? And so on.

What they did with Glenn was showing us that if you disobey Negan in any way, he will just take it a step further. The writers said that the whole point of this episode was to show that Negan is not to be messed with and what he is capable of, they even give him a line telling us this: "first impressions are important and I need you to know that I am a man of my word" and most importantly it was for Rick to learn that he is no longer in charge, he answers only to Negan now.

TBH, they should have gone forward with Rick cutting Carl's hand off as well as that really would have broken him.

At the end of the day, it should be pretty clear now that the show is going to be super brutal/violent and not shaun of the dead :p As kirkman and all have said before, the whole zombie stuff has never really been the point of this show, more just a catalyst for showing how the survivors adapt and how their characters change over time.

Incredible TV last night, so intense

Glenn's death has left me feeling a bit sad today, when Eugene died I was relieved Glenn and Darryl had gotten away with it but then when he died anyway I was genuinely gutted. Plus him saying "Maggie, I'll find you", bloody haunting, man.

Don't understand how people are saying it was too brutal, that's way down the list of brutal moments from the show over the seasons imo

I was alright with Glenn's death, considering he should have died half way through season 6 anyway.

Yeah, I thought I'd be the same as like you I thought he was gone in season 6 anyway. But last night with the way he went, just left me feeling a bit weird. That's the sign of a great tv show when you're that connected to the characters

I just hope when Negan snuffs it, it's even more brutal

I haven't been this sad about losing a character since Tyreese died... :(

Just saw this on reddit - thought it was too good to not share:

Haha yeah I've not been bothered about any other character in this show that's died apart from Hershel, I liked his character.

They've not really missed out that much. Some bits have moved in the timeline, some characters are swapped, some people exist in the comics but not the show and vice versa, some events are dropped, some embellished, but the overall arc is basically the same.

They couldn't introduce Negan without him bashing at least one person's head in. It's his thing, it's how he breaks them. It's what they - the saviours - do. The gang that got blown away with the rocket launcher said they'd normally kill one of them to make them sit up and take notice, and when Dwight rocked up to them on the tracks he nailed the doctor lady in the head with the crossbow and then they held up.

That must have been the best episode so far, loved what actually happened. If they killed some boring character then it wouldn't make much sense anyway.

That episode was brutal and brilliant. By far the best episode yet. Going to be a painful few seasons before Negan gets it.

Looks like the walkers will die off soon.

It was shocking but when you think about it Ricks group had it coming. I mean, they sneaked into one of Negans bases and knifed everyone in the head while they slept. They deserved retribution.

Combined with the fact that they were massively overconfident about it...especially Rick. They should have gathered some Intel first instead of going in eyes closed.
