*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

It would be quite interesting to try out a 'No Shotgun' gamemode. It would really bring primaries into the game, make fusions and sidearms much more useful.

Ah man that would be great to see. It's quite funny when you catch a shotgun main in a primary gunfight, they have no idea what to do

i like the comment about max range low impact and max impact low range. however they would need to completely re-work all the archetypes. people sitting on god roll matadors would be up in arms. it is a workable solution though and a better one that buffing every other weapon in the game.

IMO that is the players problem if they rely solely on a god roll weapon. To be honest, this is the second thing that annoys the hell out of me; that people who get super lucky with RNG get to lord their gun over others. I know "its all part of the grind" but taking out re-rolling at the gunsmith was a real step back for me.

It's not exactly easy to get certain "meta" guns to drop and even if you get one it could be completely useless. Why not give weapons like the Matador a chance to drop as modifiable, that way I know that eventually I will get one that I can re-roll. Charge 50 marks per re-roll, I don't care, at least it gives players the chance to level the playing field.

@MachM- Nice dude, the bubble is actually super useful for Control. We played quite a few high ELO games vs other 6 man teams last night and a bubble really helps to cap B against competent players.

Also, I'm enjoying playing a defender in IB. People insist on running into an armour of light bubble.

Nova bombs F T W! A couple of times last night I came across a Titan sitting or dancing in a bubble on a flag for me to Nova Bomb them for an easy kill :D

Had some spare time so LFG'ed a raid group and ended up in a good group. We didn't wipe until Aksis phase 2 but couldn't get the challenge done. We got close a couple of times but the timing is so tight :( I think had we had a few more goes we could have done it but a couple had to leave and the group fell apart. Though a good tip I found out last night, you can slam Aksis back while holding a cannon so if you have the raid boots you can keep your extra agility for getting the supercharge or slam.

This is what I do if I happen to be using the cannon and empowered. You can also melee and throw grenades whilst firing the cannon. :)

Nice :D I did laugh the other night when we were all standing in your bubble and a titan came in thinking he was tuff haha

Like Greeboth said, If I see it on the other team I just Nova Bomb them.

Iron banner dropping lots of loot. However RNG has been bad for me. I'm still waiting on a clever dragon to drop with a usable roll.

Ideally I want Small bore, high caliber rounds and either headseeker, hidden hand or rangefinder. If I get rangefinder then don't need to rely on small bore so much but something with more stability.

The iron banner armour is tier 12 rolls for anyone who has crappy armour. So use your marks to grab that from the IB vendor at the temple then infuse it up. I'm trying to get a 2-5-5 build together on my nightstalker.

Exactly my point, so frustrating to get the gun you want with a pub-par roll, only to have Barry sat there with god roll pulse and shotty. Bungo pls

I think they see it as diversity within the game as well as keeping people hooked. it's why they removed emblem, shader buffs from banner they wanted everyone to use whatever they want to increase variety.

so by having guns with 1000 different rolls it creates more variety, yes it's unfair people have god rolls and you don't but that seems to be what they want variety and keep people playing until a god roll drops so they can then use said god roll.

a guy got a god roll but not forgotten the other day when i was in archons forge, hidden hand, some range boosting perk with snapshot, etc. i've not had a single one drop with hidden hand so far i didn't think it was possible til he wet himself when he saw his roll.

this has always been the case with hopscotch, grasp of malok, etc too. it's never been fair and RNG. what about all the PVE players in year 1 who didn't have a gjallahorn? they played the game every week did the raid 3 times a week and it wouldn't drop. it keeps players coming back for more. they have probably done the maths and worked out it keeps more people playing for longer than those it peeves.

crucible players longing for that AB, max range matador roll. we weapon tested it and guess what rangefinder does nothing on a maxed out matador, so rangefinder isn't a perk you want on it rather life support or crowd control or the extra melee damage.

People that actually care about 'god rolls' are a tiny minority. I certainly don't give a stuff. If I get a drop that's got totally useless perks I'll dismantle it but otherwise it gets used until something better comes along.

I'd certainly never grind just for a weapon roll, there lies madness....and all for such tiny little differences...

I don't think they removed the shader and emblem buffs to increase variety, it was purely to simplify the ranking process, but anyway. I was one of the players who chased Gally until about a month before Xur resold it; I know that's just the way it goes, but the point I'm trying to make is that it doesn't have to be that way

Halo 2+3, Counterstrike, COD's and Overwatch etc are all standardised and people play/played for 1000's of hours. People are paying crazy money for CS skins etc.

I'm just really starting to dislike Bungies stance on PvP. Don't label it "competitive" multiplayer and give us SBMM when you refuse to talk about actual competitive or skill based issues / balance. Don't bother making ranked playlists with standardised weapons, just stream a MLG event which just ends up being streamers shotgunning each other :D

I don't understand them trying to pretend it's a 'serious' PvP game. Anyone that's ever played it knows the deal. It's a good fun casual PvP game, nothing more.

It's why I don't find trials appealing at all. I don't mind the shotgun trading latency shenanigans when it's just casual games, but putting up with that in a sweaty game mode, no thanks.

I don't like the whole RNG side of the game. it's why i deleted my warlock and titan and i now have 2 hunters. i'm thinking i may of made a mistake with that due to warlocks and titans being better overall in PvP atm in terms of perks/abilities and supers. the only decent perk on a hunter shadestep i never use because i don't play claw. i will need to look into changing controls there are 2 that are supposed to be the best for pvp puppeteer and another one i forget that unless you use one of those 2 your at a disadvantage.

I don't understand the call for shotguns to be nerfed. RNG and god roll's aside the weapons are pretty well balanced IMO, shotguns only kill at close range. Even more than a few feet and a shotgun will no longer OHK but at that range a fusion rifle will. At the range fusion rifles stop being OHK, auto rifles take over and so on up to Sniper's. That is how it should be! Now player skill, camping, map design, connections etc. all play their parts but these are different issues than simply nerfing shotguns.

Didn't know that, useful to know. I have a feeling of trepidation for this challenge!

I knew you could do that but never thought about slamming while carrying it also.

The challenge makes the timing really really tight, you only need one person to be a little slow on supercharging and challenge mode over. However, as you have enforced supercharging (I though it just did super by the name but it recharges all abilities so lots of sunsinger grenades with sunbreakers :D) it actually makes taking Aksis down easier.

It doesn't look likely I will make it tonight but hoping I can get it done over the weekend as my primary is 399 and I want them drops

I won't be around tonight for raiding sadly (was hoping to jump in) but the Mrs lost her Gran last night and finds out tomorrow whether she is being made redundant....

I really don't like this week so far! :(

Might be on Sat night is anyone would be kind enough to help me to get Dark Drinker?

Sorry to hear that :( and fingers crossed about her job.

I'm not sure about being on during the day over the weekend but expect I will be on during the evenings.

shotguns can kill from ridiculous ranges more than a few feet go into a private match with a friend and weapon test them you can be killed from 6-10 feet away with 1 slug from a god roll matador, they either need to be re-worked, nerfed or other weapons buffed. it's about how fast a person can sneak up on you and then shotgun you. that is why titans skating round a map with a force barrier are so lethal it's about the speed at which they can close the gap in which makes the shotgun lethal so overpowered.

read above in trials shotguns accounted for 45% of all weapon kills. that is one subclass within secondaries accounting for 45% of all weapon kills.

Shotguns > Auto rifles + Pulse Rifles + Scout Rifles + Hand cannons, etc all put together plus all heavy weapons too i imagine.

This means there is something seriously wrong within the balancing aspect. Also your comment about auto rifles being useful within a certain range i would argue that they are terrible within any situation and outplayed by any other primary weapon.

Last word, pulse rifles, palindrome archetype, mida are all better than auto rifles in any situation, auto rifles atm are simply crap your at a disadvantage if your using one. I would use any other primary over an autorifle and I have the best ones, I have a haakons hatchet, unbent tree, doctrine of passing with counterbalance, etc. None of them apart from the doctrine are of any use and even that is so poor I wouldn't use it. They really do need a buff they are crap.

The flinch on snipers is too much and shotguns have too much ammo compared to snipers too. Everyone has now abandoned sniping for shotguns. The sniper nerf has been too much.

Fusion rifles are working fine they need to be readied before firing but you can cancel this and re-start the initial warm up time. Takes work to master them but it's not hard but at least noobs cannot run around like a god with them. Currently anyone can run around and shotgun anyone. They need to nerf speed somehow (agility) or re-wrok the shotguns. They are a problem in PvP the stats prove it. They are so powerful compared to all other weapons everyone is using them even people who only used to rock snipers.

I haven't actually worked out (or looked up the distsnces) so a few feet was a guess of how close. However, my point (which your post mostly backs up) is that it isn't necessarily the shotguns themselves that need the nerf it is other mechanics. For example remove (or slow down) shielded titan skaters so they can't rapidly close the distance and with no change to the actual shotguns they wouldn't feel so OP.

I might be 10 minutes or so late for the raid tonight due to work I'm afraid - if you have a replacement then don't wait for me, otherwise, see you soon :D.
