What film did you watch last night?

Carrie (2013). Some parts were mildly amusing when they probably weren't meant to be but it was ultimately spoiled by the frequency of ad breaks on 5star. I shall be avoiding films on that channel in future. :p

I was thinking about going to see Nocturnal Animals last week but decided to go and see Arrival for a 2nd time instead. :p

If it's still on at the end of this week, I might go.

A Serbian film. Apart from one scene which i FF through, it's a pretty dire film.

Saw this a couple of years ago. Wish I'd never watched it, particularly for the one scene which I think you're talking about (although I don't know what 'FF' means).

Also I saw Tickled the other day. Crazy crazy film. Very compelling, a bit like Catfish in that way but a clear example of what people and the internet is capable of.

Suicide Squad

Its not as bad as some people said but it certainly could have been better.

Margot Robbie played the part well but (as much as I appreciated it) her outfit seemed out of place.
Leto played the Joker well and I look forward to their stand alone film.

The other characters all seemed to be played fine although I have little idea what they are like in the comics.

The main plot felt week and rushed with the 'super villain' taking a back seat resulting in a fairly timid end. Having said that overall the 2 hours + past quickly and it provided a few laughs along the way.

imo it was still better than Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman which still remain the biggest disappointments in the now overcrowded comic based films.

Snowden

Thought it was pretty good. Long but the technology side of it caught my attention even if it was a little movie style.

Based on true events

An endless source of phallic symbols...

Mutant 3/10

Lol, what if Star Wars and Alien had a deformed love-child and you had to watch it grow up really, really drunk? MUTANT!

B-grade quality, WTF sci-fi. Which of course means the ladies have nice bums, scream well and VFX are rather cutthroat. Having said that, there's some plot and I've watched far worse. If you don't mind ageing over an hour doing not much, it's as good a killer as any.

Fantastic Beasts

Well, I'm glad that's all over. Got to be the most stressful thing ever for both fans of the source material and the team behind the project itself when you're trying to get a new project off the ground (regardless of it's pedigree).

All in all, Yates and the team did a pretty good job with this first entry. It has a few slow sections in the first and second act, particularly during the 'beast finding' sections themselves. But there are some great scenes that swell to a really solid third act with one of the better antagonists the movies have dealt with. However, that all comes crashing down with what has to be one of the laziest reveals in recent memory... Doesn't make sense at all.

The cast are nearly all great, particularly Ezra Miller and Samantha Morton.

I like the way it explores some of the more elusive aspects of the Potter lore and overall the themes are solid and I felt engaged throughout. No mean feat considering how sceptical I was of new entries after 'The Cursed Child' earlier this year.

Supersonic - OASIS documentary

Watched this through a hangover yesterday morning and thought it was great. I really enjoyed the early year stuff the most. Like most people who lived through 94 - 96 I was already fairly aware what went on once they got big.

The strange thing is that the documentary ends at Knebworth and there is no talk of the third album onwards. It ends on a high really and doesn't chart the slow decline which is what I would have liked to have heard a bit more about.

Noel says that they were the very last of the bands to capture the publics imagination. The rise of reality TV and the internet could never let it happen again. I have to agree...

Yeah well, Noel always was a self centred, arrogant little twonk.

The culture around music has just changed. He's just ****ed because bands don't have to rise through the ranks anymore to get an audience like they did, they just have to be good.
