Every game I've played so far either looks better or runs better(30 FPS capped game like Bloodbourne doesn't dip below 30FPS), patched or not.
DF say things run worse because their little graph tells them so. But they never, ever seem to comment on whether it's actually noticeable in real world play.
I only tend to notice when things get a bit choppy. Like playing Dark Souls' Blighttown on PS3.
Both XB1 and PS4 look pretty much the same to me on my plasma 8 feet a way. So I am a bit sceptical about this mid-term refresh. I paid £350 for a PS4 - which was clearly a huge leap from the PS3. For me to pay another £350 will I see the same kind of leap? From what I am reading it is the HDR/4K leap which is where the difference really is. I only have a 1080p panel so will the difference really be that noticeable to me?
To be truthful I am not interested in going back and playing InFamous again, even with the graphics turned up a bit. I was hoping for more from Battlefield 1 other than 'it runs more smoothly'..
I think what will really sell it to me is whether newer games like Horizon: Zero Dawn will show a night and day difference. If they do then I might just have to bite.
The graphics won't improve on a 1080p you'll just get 60fps. If you're not interested in increasing fps then you'd be wasting your money.
I've streamed a lot of 1080p60 on YouTube and its been perfect. I have VM 20 up.
Playing Infamous on my standard PS4 made me want to jump to the Pro... It's the worst running game I've ever seen on a console. What's the use of a 30fps limit if it can't even keep that in many scenarios? Honestly, it feels like 15 fps in bigger fights.
Also, I love the exclusives and how they run (excluding Infamous) but the console itself is a bit of a miss on the technical level. Build quality is just so-so, the drive is loud, the PSN is really slow and dl speeds are atrocious. It's a vastly different sensation than when I unboxed my PS3.
Yesterday, I tried to create a Japanese PSN account and was getting multiple server errors or had to wait minutes between screens...

Can't agree with you at all.
Infamous ran well on my PS⁴ and while looking better on Pro, I don't get the feeling it's running any better (that's just me playing without altering any settings in game).
I notice no sound from the system (fan/hd etc.) in use and my download speeds are 20mins per 10gig via wireless.
My 2 (big) problems with the Pro is the unforgivable lack of HDR pass through on my PSVR and I suffer the black screen issue to the extent that if no fix is incoming in the next few weeks, I'll be done with the Pro and it will go back.
