PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Grabbing myself a pro on payday. With final fantasy xv. I really can't wait. I hear very good things about xv. And it sounds great ! Not much hype on these forums though...

Depends what you class as 'very good things'. I've been keeping up to date on neogaf with info from people with leaked copies, some of which have allegedly completed the game already. I wouldn't say all things are very good.

Like I said, its peoples own interpretation of something being good or bad.

Beware though, the GAF is riddled with spoilers.

I'm not one for a stretched out grindy jrpg. If it's as long as 7. Or 8. I'll be happy. Hated 9. Loved 10. Skipped the rest :p

I've only been reading the gaf impressions thread. And most seem to like it!

Just put my PS4 pro on to find updates to the 2 games I'm currently playing that add pro support! Deus ex and assassins creed syndicate! Not tried them yet

I've got a real feeling Final Fantasy 15 is going to be like 13, a massive disappointment. Demo was so so, although I've not tried the latest Japanese one.

Interesting about AC. I didn't realise that was getting pro support. Never played it but I like the victorian setting and my bro has it, so will have to have a borrow. I knew Deus Ex was getting patched as it was shown in the announcement video.

Im torn on what do, my original PS4 broke... so im thinking i should pick up the pro now however i game on a 1080p gaming monitor.. and with the reviews so far saying the PS4 Pro isnt really benefiting 1080p players and in some cases offering worse frame rate maybe getting a PS4 slim is best! But i suppose not as future proof if i do decide to get a 4k tv or something.. but doubtful for now!

Buy a 4K TV just for the Pro, it's the only way. :D

Games that are running with mixed results are older titles. Anything new will be built for the pro from the start, so should be a much better experience. You will also get extra graphical bells and whistles on some games at 1080p.

I would say go for the pro. PS5 wont be out until 2020 at the earliest. The chances of you getting a 4K TV by then are probably quite high imo, as prices will continue to drop. Also I find the pro very nicely built and whisper quiet compared to my old PS4.

Part of it also depends on whether or not you are committed to PS gaming or are considering the Scorpio. If so, then you may be better off with a good condition 2nd hand PS4 until next year.

You can get the Samsung KS7000 55" at curry's (I know) for £934 with codes (price matched at richer sounds but with 6 year warranty) at the moment and I bet someone will do it even cheaper over the next few days. So tempted as its meant to be the best price/quality/performance out there. With quantum dot - full HDR - 10 Bit - etc etc, basically its SUHD HDR PREMIUM CERTIFIED.

A lot of TV for the money.

How do I get them to price match in Store?

What codes etc?
Thanks

Is it a good TV for gaming? What is the TV's software like? Price is good for me.

neoglow what? You think that's too much?

edit - I suppose we should be talking about this in the TV thread :p

Has anyone got a 2015 samsung UHD model? I have the Js9000, how does one know when HDR is in use? I did turn on UHD colour. I mean i think it is on because Rachet and Clank looks amazing but wondered if there is a way to be sure that it's on.

It might look good, but I have a suspicion it will be mediocre. Never completed a Final Fantasy game before, and I don't think XV will change that. Final Fantasy VII Remake, now that'll be worth waiting for methinks.

Depends what you like. If you want something like final fantasy 3-10 then you'll be sorely dissapointed if you enjoy hack and slash as opposed to battle sequences you might like it...

It's a lot from my point of view when HDR is still in it's infancy, wait 6 months for HDR to become 'standardised'. It's too much of a mess at the mo what with faux HDR10 sets (via firmware updates), 10bit chipsets but only 8bit panels in some sets, LG using WRGB in their panels (not true 4K) etc.

It's like the release of HD and Full HD all over again, buying new benchmark tech early - especially in the TV market where manufacturers are shadier than car salesmen - is never a good idea. Unless of course you have money to burn then crack on.
