Hi All,

So I was driving down the M1 today and noticed a few of the variable speed cameras flash.
Looking down at my dial I could see I was doing 75MPH.

So my questions are:
  1. Is it really true about the speed limit +10% +1 (depending on county?)
  2. If multiple people are going through the camera will it tag them all?
  3. Finally what if you are overtaking in the fast lane? Does it still count?

    It's 10%+2 that enforcement starts. People will tell you it's not, but nobody in the history of the internet has ever been able to supply proof.

    Depending on the type of camera, yes.

As far as I'm aware at least, the outside lane has the same speed limit as the rest of the lanes... :eek::eek::eek:
 
1. Speed+10%+2mph is just the ACPO guideline. The various forces are not obligated to abide by it.

2. The majority of gantry cameras now can monitor multiple vehicles simultaneously.

3. Changing lanes between camera positions used to be a good way to dodge the bullet. Now it doesn't work.

That said, if the OP was doing an indicated 75mph in a 70mph limit then their actual speed was probably 71-72mph.....so they should be OK.
 
Lucky if there even a hard shoulder there. They are slowly turning them in to extra lanes :/

Which makes it highly dangerous to break down on some of them.

Isnt the principle meant to be 10% for the speedo accuracy, and 1mph for you reading the scale.

Ie its 78mph if your speedo underreads by 10% and your doing 71 indicated.

Now a lot of cars under read, but do you really have confidence that yours is doing this....
