How about a Tmax?

Absolute beast of a machine. Gets stolen faster than you can lock them however.

Great for London where you'd otherwise wear your feet down from changing gears all day.

Started my commute in the dark with heavy drizzle this morning so could see the grand total of **** all about 5 minutes in I come across a learner on a scoot, helmet only, no gloves, standard tracksuit and JD sports bag slung across shoulder.
Fine, do as you wish.

I then notice this genius is riding in those conditions with no lights on if I hadn't have passed him already I'd never have spotted him in my mirrors or shoulder checks and to top it off he then starts weaving in and out of the cones of a closed lane on a DC and sat right up the arse of whoever he could keep up with.

If he made it to his destination without getting pancaked this morning then he better put the lottery on!

And he'd be added to the bikers statistics unfortunately.

I'd like to know what the actual death statistics of bikers are if you only analysed the ones that wore full kit on a fully working and well maintained bike. I'm sure insurance would plummet as well...

The only problem there is when looking at that group you've got the summer warriors who have had a licence for decades but only done a few thousand miles yet still think they're God's gift to riding as soon as the sun comes out, they're the ones that end up in most of the "biker crashes" stories as soon as the good weather starts.

Ah yeah, those guys. We'll take them off the statistics list as well.

It should be a question on the insurance form. What sort of biker are you?

This is what I mention to my wife. Bike accident statistics look bad, but when you take out the summer riders, the no protection riders, the riders who you think "wtf are you doing?" as they tail gate cars or filter with both legs out. I'd happily bet they wouldn't look so bad.

Returned my RST leather jacket to SBS the other week as the stitching down by one of the wrists had just given up.

Last I heard they'd returned it to RST for inspection, just had a delivery notification from DPD to say they've delivered an SBS package. No idea if they've fixed my old jacket/sent a brand new jacket or just sent the old one back untouched.

Where do you draw the line though? Does the experience of the all year commuter get ruled out by the wxtra time spent on the roads? More time = more risk of getting squashed. The summer guys will also generally have better riding conditions and visibility as well. It's a tricky one really. I'd love to see proper statistics but I think there may be many more factors at play here than we think.
