Did Pewdiepie delete his youtube account? !! !

That's youtube's prerogative though, how they want to run their business is up to them, not someone who is using their free service. It's the same when people were kicking off about having videos un-monetised due to not being advertiser friendly, or when Nintendo got loads of videos wiped, they were only complaining because it hit them in their pocket not for any other aultruistic or moral reasons.

What a pathetic statement,
From what I get from this thread he's something to do with games and the last game I played was Time Bandits on the PS1, hmm I wonder why I haven't heard of him?
My Mum has heard of a lot of people you've never heard of but only because her little boy was listening & watching them.

I genuinely thought Pewdiepie was some kind of cartoon character in a game, genuinely didn't know it was a real person. Now I do though, so maybe his publicity stunt did work in a way.

I have heard of 'DanTDM' because my 7 year old son watches his Minecraft videos and I find quite them quite enjoyable to watch with him. My son hasn't heard of 'Pewdiepie' either and he's one of the cool kids at school.

Will be phoning my mum later but as she's 70 I doubt she will have heard of him.

People are missing the point. YouTube has changed their algorithm that promotes paid videos to their trending section. Usually it consisted of really popular videos with tons of likes and views, now garbage videos and paid videos go up that have very little views or attention.

This was a great way of getting small youtubers noticed and bigger channels would get most of their views from the trending section.

Now that section is just for people who pay YouTube the most money.

This is killing YouTube channels both big and small. Yes Pewdiepie probably partly did it for selfish reasons but who is YouTube going to take more notice of, a small channel with a few thousand followers or Pewdiepie?

He was obviously trying to get Youtubes attention, they stand to lose a lot of money if he deleted his channel, I believe he was doing it for all of YouTube not just himself.

But what do I know, it's easy to hate on a successful rich person.

So at one time Pewdiepie would have been in the trending section all the time because of how many views he got but now he doesn't get there because other people pay money to get their videos in the trending section and he effectively loses money?
Other vloggers are also in the same position?
So You Tube earn money from Pewdiepies channel but he decided to take it down so they don't earn money (and neither does he) as a protest about the paid videos in the trending section?

It's all new to me.

Can anyone explain why he has 50 million subs but gets only 2 million views? Is it one of these things where by seeming as though if you sub to him you are joining something 'big', much like the whole WoW thing with 15 million users! But the actual active accounts were only around a few million? (if that).

Kids getting motivated to make as much money from so little work with the minimum of talent.

"What do you want to be when you grow up? A doctor, scientist?". "No, I wanna be a Youtube celeb".

The world is upside down.

That's the gist of it yeah. Everyone, not just Pewdiepie, is losing views because of something Youtube have done. Youtube makes a lot of money from Pewdiepie so he's using his status to make Youtube stop and think.

Yes it is their prerogative but this is hitting smaller youtubers as well, friends of Pewdiepie. I don't think he would miss Youtube he earns millions per year allegedly and that's just from YT advertising not sponsors and the like.

It is quite amazing that with all the potential revenue, youtube still cannot utilised to create a professional "serious" range of channels earning millions - you know - YT should be full of standups doing their (local in terms of country) Daily Show With Jon Stewart like commentary/satire, minor press/young journalists doing Q&A with politicians and small labels/promotors doing weekly sessions/festivals with pre-major-label bands. And yet, it doesn't happen. It's seems the only people willing to succeed with it and get hundreds of millions of views are always some exhibitionist drama queen with Munhausen syndrome, some gamer nerd or some American Idol drop out belching out cover of the month in her basement while wearing sports bra.

Good on him.

Millions a year
Can you link to one of his videos that sums up what he does?

It's OK, I've found his channel.

Can you explain the bold?

I watched a couple and I must be old because I don't get it however total respect for becoming a multi millionaire looking at video games and talking nonsense.
It just shows that money can be made anywhere if you're willing to start it off.

I remember starting a thead about eGame competitions and how some kids are making millions just playing Medal of Honour or whatever.

Kids love this kind of thing. I went through a short period a few years ago where I'd watch some gamers messing about and having fun but then I figured I could also make money doing it so launched my own Youtube channel which earned about 30p and that was the end of it :D

THREE years ago already!

Yes. That's me. Have at it :D

You are old. This stuff, like most of the internet content is aimed at kids and teenagers.
I'd be amazed if everyone loved this crap. In fact it would be completely weird.
