Grumpy old gits of today were the grumpy young gits of yesterday.

Old folks can be amazingly forward thinking and progressive, its just down to personality.

And "the youth of today" has been ruined by whatever new technical innovation is around (internet, tv, radio, cars, electricity, indoor plumbing etc etc) for the whole of humanity, and is a mark of progression that "kids have it easy these days" because it means the generation before did a good job of improving the world for the next generation.

When I was younger I was more liberal, idealistic and hopeful. Then I grew up.

Now I see the world for what it is instead of what I want it to be. Old and bitter? Not really. Realistic and grounded, certainly.

In my experience of older people and their opinions, they believe that you have to work hard for things and the youth of today don't seem to grasp this. (lots don't admittedly)

They tend to be very unsympathetic of young people who moan about not being able to purchase property, the general response is "well we managed it" but they forget / fail to mention that they themselves purchased their council house and the ones who didn't paid a lot less compared to their earnings as people nowadays.

I hate a large amount of the youth of today and i'm only 27!

Millennials all think their stupid opinion matters more than everyone else and everybody is constantly offended.

********* generation is awful

I've shaped my views in the early 20s based on facts, critical thinking and evidence based reasoning. They haven't changed much since nor will they ever change dramatically. If you were a liberal as a young adult and a conservative now, your views have been based on gut feelings, emotion and societal trends. They are therefore subject to change and will continue to be in the future. :)

Last option imo. The older the Brits get, the more Daily Mail they get.

The coffin dodgers are more likely to vote than the young and working age. The dodgers wanted Brexit without any showing consideration for the young / working age. The dodgers got what they wanted.

What a load of crap. Instead of blaming the older members of the population how about the young take responsibility for their inaction. They are by far the biggest complainers about the result yet if more of them got off their backsides and actually voted then they probably would have got the outcome they desired. Typically though they would rather blame someone else than accept responsibility for their own action/inaction. Sadly we see that all too often these days.

Why are young people so stupid to think that all old people purchased their council houses - I couldn't even get on the list so rented private for a few years - Guess what - We - wife and myself stayed in for a few years till we saved £1k for deposit. Then looked at houses around £4k mark only to find they had been offered £6k - out of our range - stayed in again till finally got one and guess what - interest rate went to 15% - My wages now didn't even cover mortgage, So yes we had it very easy.

Took us about ten years before we were in position where we felt we were on our feet - and no new cooker/washing machine/ hoover/sofas /12" portable BW tv - you youngsters have never had it so hard :rolleyes:

As a really old git - yes I am bitter -left school at 15 - one week on dole and retired at 55 through health and redundancy -Paid in 40 years to Gov so now I feel peed off when I have to wait in long queues at hospitals behind fat mothers and dropouts never mind the other I can't mention- for care - I feel I should be moved to front of queue when they see me coming :D

I do feel these sort of threads are pointless

With old age comes wisdom. Something lacking from the young. On the other hand old age can make you faded and stifle your exuberance. Personally I'd rather be old and jaded than young and dumb.

yep

I see first hand how todays youth are mostly, not all but mostly, **********.

They melt at the first sign of pressure or tension due to being mollycoddled by mum and dad and them generally having zero resilience.

Addicted to their phones, they struggle to communicate face to face and are shockingly lacking in empathy due to communicating by phone where they can't see and use the recipients reaction, to get their point over.

I'm now in my 40s but I wouldn't like to be growing up nowadays where everything is filmed on a phone. The stuff I got up to in my teens, I'm glad wont' be online for ever.

Todays youth are also very happy to give so much personal info over to companies that it scares me. I question everything these days yet the youth are happy to divulge so much that it isn't going to be easy for them to retract that info later if they want to. Again this is down to a lack of real world experience where they don't know better regarding giving away more info than they should.

What I laugh at though is that they think they can spell their name, in irish, on facebook and that will give them protection from people trying to look them up later (potential employers). Again boils down to a lack of real world knowledge.

...oh and just heard a 20 odd year old say she got a new car for xmas, but didn't like the colour of it. That makes my blood boil at the " I'm entitled to" generation. Has a new car to drive to university but doesn't like the colour....

yep 100%

Perhaps if the previous generation actually spent time raising their kids properly instead of both parents working 60 hour weeks to get that nice semi detached house + car then this new generation wouldn't be such a disappointment. :p:D

That image also describes what would happen if todays youth came up against Hitler. Back in the 1930/40s the then 21 year somethings, flying spitfires and fighting hitler, did the job and beat him. You look at todays 21 year old homogenised "Nathans" and you know that they have no bottle to go and fight for their country...they probably would hold a demonstration march against war and then go to starbucks to have a latte and congratulate themselves on what a sterling job they did!

Sadly this is probably true :(
