*** Nintendo Switch ***

Have not seen the launch or read much, but seeing people moaning about the price is quite funny, most would be willing to by an Ipad for £350+ with 32gb yet complain about a portable gaming system.

It's not an ipad. The Ipad has a huge range of uses, also, battery life, also an up to date expensive chip and an expensive high res screen. It doesn't cost you £60 for every new piece of software you want to install on it.... and the ridiculously overpriced adaptors and things Apple sell.... are still cheaper than Nintendo controllers and accessories.

Wait, I looked up Zelda straight away and on Wii U it's £40, but on Switch it's £60? What an absolute joke.

Well, I did expect it to be a little more expensive, but not 50% more expensive! Lucky for you, you still have a Wii U, you can buy it for £40. Then again lucky for me, sold my Wii U before it devalued a year ago ;):D

It won't need much internal memory anyway with cartridges being used. It'll just need save states and virtual console games which will take up next to nothing.

True, and unless they make you buy Nintendo only memory, not like memory is expensive these days.

The new Zelda trailer does make it look great but I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed with it when it pans across landscapes and they just look bare.

I know we arent going for ultra-realistic with this Zelda but they look a bit meh.

Can't remember which thread it was where it showed a side by side of a game released now and one released on a last gen console or something and the previous gen game looked miles better in terms of detail etc.

Obviously its not a deal breaker but with a brand new, supposedely next gen (for Nintendo) Zelda, i was expecting more, maybe i'm expecting too much.

Zelda alone still makes me want to buy a Switch so have just left my preorder for now.

Worrying line up, and an even more worrying release price. The Wii U had a Mario game, didn't save it .... can Zelda alone do it? Where are the 3rd party games that their supposed 'partners' are developing?

£280 is far in excess of other handhelds and is competing with other home consoles at that price point. Wii U MK2 incoming I fear.

£60 for games as well? That's back to the N64 days.

Thats a lot of money for a system powered by a Nvidia Tegra chip - I was considering getting this but thats me out. Maybe when it drops in price because of terrible sales.

I would spend more than that on an IPad (and have done) because it offers vastly more utility than a switch.

Surely the derpiest comparison ever.

One issue I have, is once Zelda, MK8, Mario etc. are in my hand after the first month or so, I don't expect I will buy a great deal after that.

Yea. Disappointing really. Reminds me of my Wii U. Great games, but hardly any... lol.

Well it seems like I will be buying and enjoying it on launch with Zelda, once completed it, might sell it. Then pick it up again a in two years time when it has a nice library of games which I can pick up much cheaper second hand :)

As someone else mentioned, they should have just released at the end of the year with Mario and also they could show off games near to launch and make it look like they have a lot more going for it.

I get all the consoles so I don't need to be convinced to buy it.

I will buy this when the price drops. The launch lineup is terrible.

:p:D

Launch PS4 is £400? PS2 was £500.

The Wii was £250 for years.

£280 launch is normal?

/wait for but the expected PS4 is more powerful reply

No, none of those prices are correct.

And yes, the PS4 is more powerful than the Switch.

But hark you say, you can play games for 2.5 hours on the train!

Thank the lord, Nintendo has done it again!

Speaking of iPads...

Apple have missed a massive trick in my opinion. The gfx capability of the iPads since the Air 2 generation has been good enough to crack out some more fully fledged games than we have seen. If the iPad had a better system for HDMI output and a decent set of controllers and a kick stand they could have already undermined Nintendo in some aspects.

I have an air 2 and if there was a decent system for playing games on it especially 2 player ones I would be all over it.

What a terrible lineup, probably as bad as the Wii U. Only reason to get this is Zelda and not many people buy a console for just one game. Without the third party developers this is just going to fail like the Wii U.

Not really, all depends on how people use things, many will only use an Ipad for Youtube facebook and twitter not exactly great value for money, The Switch is a dedicated gaming machine which can be taken with you.

Being able to play Zelda on the train, or plane, not something the ipad could do.

How long the Switch last though is another thing, being restricted CPU/GPU will devs want/have the time to make games for the thing while having to build the same for the PS4 XBox, This will probably just be another WiiU and fade away quickly.
