*** Nintendo Switch ***

EA have confirmed FIFA is coming to the Switch.

But it will be a custom version.

It's supposedly based off the 360/ps3 version. Aside from Skyrim which is taking over a year to port, there is no sign of any current gen(s) console or PC games coming to Switch.

Skyrim taking more than 6 months to port screams nightmare coding, lots of work and incredibly difficult to get working within the confines of the hardware on the Switch... and Skyrim is a 2011 game.

Ill bet you that once this thing is off the dock, or it doesn't detect a power source, it will scale back some of the hardware or something... I cant believe it would still run full pelt...

Ive preordered but....
I just want to play Zelda at this stage... I think the Wii U version should be the same as the Switch...?

Yeah it drops the CPU & GPU clocks significantly when in handheld mode

I still have my pre order but I'm going to just finish Zelda and then flog it. I'd rather do that than have it sat gathering dust and running out of warranty until Mario arrives.

Also the gimmicks nowadays all end up like Kinect, no one makes any games for them and they're just an expensive mandatory add on.

Thing is, I have a Wii-U. If I was that crazy about Zelda I'd purchase it for the Wii-U.

What I want is a portable device which has a good range of decent quality games available on something which doesn't display them at potato resolution.

Feel really negative about this whole Switch console right now, games are key to its success, and they've already failed at the first hurdle.

No thanks, will play it on PC at 4K (which looks so much better than any console) :D

Chances are it will be some garbage version of the game which then will not sell well, then EA will say oh well we tried and that will be the only FIFA the system gets. A likely scenario unless the Switch is a big hit and people just buy it to have it on the go.

It has already been known for some time that this is how it works dude, where you been? :p:D
It drops from 1080p or there about to 720p as far as I understand.

I am confident it will look better while docked and playing on TV vs Wii U.

Ah didn't know :) I didn't read all the fine details about the Switch to be honest! Thanks to you and others for confirming this.

Well the screen itself is only 720p, and thats why they are giving weird all over the place battery life, its from 2.5 hours to a possible 6 hours, but they said for Zelda its about 3 hrs.
3hrs....with scaled back graphics and a 720 screen.....yeesh.

Personally very excited, have my pre-order in already.

Heard complaints about Wii U games being rehashed for the Switch, personally think it's a great idea as they can tun them around quickly to increase the game catalogue.

Mario Kart 8 was the biggest seller on Wii U and only shifted 8m copies so there are a lot of people who haven't experienced how bloody fantastic it is. I'll be picking up the Switch version, being able to play this on the tram into work... sold!

This situation is true of so many games on the Wii U like Mario 3D World which is one of the best, most polished Mario games I've ever played (and I've played them all).

Haha, with all this negativity, I'm unsure if their is many who want this. But I never realised you could pre order zelda too from Amazon. You just click on the Wii U version and select switch. You can also select the special edition, which is meant a mix of the American Master/special edition.

So 6 hours if you are playing one of those puzzle type games then I suppose.

3 hours is not bad really when you compare the leap in graphics from previous handhelds. These days power banks are cheap anyway so not that much of a big deal.

I hoped for a cheaper price for the consoleD

I think the price is bang on expectation.

cheaper game prices

It is on par with new games on the PS4.

a bigger launch catalogue of games.

It has Zelda ! and launch titles rarely are all good.

I would have been fine if the hardware was the new tegra which is a lot more powerful, but it does not seem to be the case. As it is, a bit of a fail launch.

Would you would be happy if they put in said an i7 but no games for 10 years?

My point is, what good is a fast CPU if there are nothing to play....what are you priorities?

That said, I want to play the best available version of Zelda. I can also play it on the go if I wish to do so, or in bed. End result, pre-ordered and cannot wait until it comes :D

That's exactly where i am coming from, the other points are just that, disappointments but I can live with them. I have a PS4 for other games which I want more CPU power for.

A lot of people don't have a Wii U (and they aren't making anymore) so the only way for the Zelda fans to play will be on Switch.

720p on a screen this size is more than playable in my opinion, lower resolutions haven't stopped the 3DS selling bucket loads, I've played many games using just the Wii U gamepad screen.

I would have preferred 1080 obviously but the battery drain is likely to have been the issue. Nintendo are quoting 3 hours battery life undocked for Zelda as it is, I'd guess that would likely been a max of 2 hours if using a full HD screen. And you'd have to increase the cost, it's at the high-end already so again a bit prohibitive.

I want that sword, but can only find it on Amazon.com at the moment.

With USB-C powered, if you are going on a long trip, carry a battery bank. Problem solved, or charge it in the car.
