MS should really omit the optical drive out altogether and save a few quid. The audience for Scorpio will probably be more receptive of digital downloads.
How can MS - as surely they aim everything since the 360 as a "digital hub" and therefore they want discs being used also (to widen the market interest).
If they start chopping their own heads off by killing a lot of their potential market, they will lose massively.
Its also the case that unlike Sony, MS dont have to put in their own brand of UHD player, so they can buy in bulk and save an absolute fortune compared to retail price of bare drive.
(this was reportedly Sony's reasoning for not putting a UHD drove into the Pro)
If Scorpio really is a new generation I think it would be a massive mistake to exclude the optical drive - streaming 4k video really isnt an option for majority of the world so its a waste of time and expense to market it as such.
If they want it as solely a gaming machine then fair enough but I doubt this is the case
It would flop on Xbox and have little support.
£500+ for the headset. No thanks!
Occulus rift will be 18 months old by the time of the Scorpio release plus MS's buying power, could see a heavily discounted bundle (or even seperate add on) if MS so wish........
Not sure if its stil the case (and I havent been following OR closely) but I seem to recall them having manufacturing issues and it being difficult to build, wonder if they could cope with the numbers required by MS to make it worth while? (I may have got this wrong , my memory isnt what it used to be hahaha)
