Resident Evil 7!!!

I've never really played a Resident Evil game before - as a newcomer, will this game make sense to me or will it feel odd?
 
You will be fine! It's almost it's own thing though it is still based in the same universe! I'm expecting Easter eggs and maybe nods to the past games but I wouldn't worry

Having already completed, I can say it will make no difference whether you have played a Resident Evil game before or not in my opinion.
 
Seems the general concensus is that this is pretty good :) where is the cheapest place to pick it up at the moment?
 
I wasn't planning on purchasing it either, but a friend of mine mentioned it so thought why not.
Hadn't played any of the Resident Evil games since way back when I had a Playstation 1 :eek:

Entertaining so far, & runs well on my set up at 1440p with all the extras turned on.
Noticed however it maxes out my Vram at 6GB.

May 9, 1998

At night, we played poker with Scott the guard, Alias and Steve the researcher.

Steve was very lucky, but I think he was cheating. What a scumbag.


May 10th 1998

Today, a high ranking researcher asked me to take care of a new monster. It looks like a gorilla without any skin. They told me to feed them live food. When I threw in a pig, they were playing with it... tearing off the pig's legs and pulling out the guts before they actually ate it.


May 11th 1998

Around 5 o'clock this morning, Scott came in and woke me up suddenly. He was wearing a protective suit that looks like a space suit. He told me to put one on as well. I heard there was an accident in the basement lab. It's no wonder, those researchers never rest, even at night.


May 12th 1998

I've been wearing this annoying space suit since yesterday, my skin grows musty and feels very itchy. By way of revenge, I didn't feed those dogs today. Now I feel better.


May 13th 1998

I went to the medical room because my back is all swollen and feels itchy. They put a big bandage on my back and the doctor told me I did not need to wear the space suit any more. I guess I can sleep well tonight.


May 14th 1998

When I woke up this morning, I found another blister on my foot. It was annoying and I ended up dragging my foot as I went to the dog's pen. They have been quiet since morning, which is very unusual. I found that some of them had escaped. I'll be in real trouble if the higher-ups find out.


May 15th 1998

Even though I didn't feel well, I decided to go see Nancy. It's my first day off in a long time but I was stopped by the guard on the way out. They say the company has ordered that no one leave the grounds. I can't even make a phone call. What kind of joke is this?!


May 16th 1998

I heard a researcher who tried to escape from this mansion was shot last night. My entire body feels burning and itchy at night. When I was scratching the swelling on my arms, a lump of rotten flesh dropped off. What the hell is happening to me?


May 19, 1998

Fever gone but itchy. Hungry and eat doggy food. Itchy Itchy Scott came. Ugly face so killed him. Tasty.

Try going to SSAO instead of HBAO and see if it makes a difference. Reason I say that is because on my first playthrough I was on SSAO and had not a single stutter, now on my 2nd playthrough I am getting small stutters now and then. My 8GB is being fully chewed up here. But I am on 4K maxing it out so :p

I remember it, how could I forget that one? :D

New games do not have memorable stuff like this unfortunately, not even 7 does IMO :(
 
A few questions please for those well through or have completed the game:

- The yellow tablets that make it 'easier' to find items - did you use them and does it just make it easier to find items or are there items that you cannot get unless use them?
- Are headshots always the way to go? Anyone tried shooting the legs - will that put them down?
- what sort of damage does the knife do? Anyone killed an enemy using only the knife? Is trying to fight with knife a likely to get you killed or just about?

I know I should be trying these things for myself but given the absence of a quick save function I'm too scared to try!

It is items that are already there, just hidden inshadows or hard to see. What I have been doing is clearing everything I can first as best as I can, then before moving away from that area to the next I pop a yeloow pill and run around mad collecting the stuff I missed which is now pointed out to me. Just now I found a "Repair Kit" I had missed on my first go :)

For most things yes, but other things it is obvious where you should hit, cannot get more specific without potential spoilers

I killed quite a lot with it on my first playthrough in the first quarter of the game, but you will need to block and move around to dodge or you will die quickly. I did it for fun so I can horde ammo :D

I know I should be trying these things for myself but given the absence of a quick save function I'm too scared to try!

Answered above in red. Why are you scared to try exactly? Save game, try, reload, continue surely :confused::p
 
So i'm like 30 mins in, Playing this on my samsung KS8000 at 4k and the game also supports HDR. Damn it's pretty and them colours look great. Looking forward to more titles that support HDR.
 
Anyone had problems by not being able to use mouse/keyboard, tried a few times here loading it up, and when the black window appears just after you launch, mines been white, the reticles been spinning, and the windows had the (not responding), but the games loaded up fine, just not being able to use mouse/keyboard, only my 360 pad, had to quit and restart my PC to sort it, launching and using mouse/keybaord fine now. :confused:

I'm in the kitchen a ks7000 and intend to try tonight! How's 4K performance? I'd have to durp some settings to get it at a good frame rate I imagine! I have tried 1440p on the TVs and it does work but seems a bit blurry, some say 1080p may actually scale better? Not sure

Think i am on HBAO+ yeah, i'll give it a try :)

Thanks for the answers. I just haven't found a confrontation that's been immediately after using the tape recorder - I suppose I should watch out for the save icon as there are autosaves aren't there?
