R8 Gone C63 AMG In !

I've heard this before, is it true? I remember Housey having a car with the same engine and not being happy with it.

An engine decoke normally improves things, but reports of people getting under 400bhp even when everything's running correctly.

If you want to discuss in depth R8 ownership then send me a trust message I'd be more than happy to help

I'm not taking anything away from the R8 they are absoloutely fantastic cars and a pleasure to drive and own but if I was going to do it again. It would be the new V10 edition.

I know his pain, a new car that you try and convince yourself is good on fuel, when really it isn't at all :D

You are wrong Simon.

I am never going to convince my self that a 6.2 litre engine is ever going to be efficient, this car was a middle finger up to the establishment :D

However with that said :D

Drive to work this morning 13 miles 50% country road 50% urban

20 MPG thats with some hard driving any more and I'd be on the wrong side of the law. The people that say not doing it right have generally never really owned a nutters car, great power comes responsibility.

Never a truer statement!

There are three types of car my opinion that deliver fun in a different kind of way:
- Underdpowered petrol/diesel, my Mums VW Up could be the example, you have the thrash the living daylights out of it to make any kind of progress and even then your business rep in his 320D will smoke you.
- The super car chaser, something like a Golf R, S3, EVO, Focus RS, A45 AMG, cars with not ludicrous horsepower but just the right amount with amazing grip/traction and are of small/medium size, so even people who have no clue can drive them fast, point and squirt. (This is probably the sensible and safe choice)
- The RWD crazy crowd, huge horsepower, torque, big shouty V8's which on anything but a dry day try to kill you upteen times on your daily journey and even though they are trying to killer you or a Golf R with half the power just kept you honest on wet road, the smile on your face says it all.

The AMG is certainly the latter, it needs respect, driving it like a lunatic will result in jail sentence or one massive off. When I drove SL63 AMG, that had 525HP and though it was most definetely no BMW or Porsche in the precision handling department it was an absolute sledgehammer when you could find purchase on the road to propel it, though the traction system kicks in hard and often, but for good reason, its keep you on the black stuff.

Love the 6.3 AMG, its one of the few European cars that sounds as good as an American V8, actually I think they sound better! :)

Agreed again, just pulling off gently from my house this morning resulted in wheel spin, the car sounds angry at life and acts like it hates me but it makes me love it more and more each day :D

Never mind the engine, how bloody cool is auto dim full beams.

I was like why isn't full beam working then it auto dipped, very clever! The car just keeps surprising me

I'm surprised how good gear change is in it, it changes quicker than I could change gear great when hammering it very satisfying.

Got a B Service coming up with Mercedes so will report the damage on that soon...

I don't understand what auto dipped means? Does it stop you blinding other road users automatically so you don't have to be turning them on and off as you progress in the dark?

Cheers for the offer on the R8 advice, I'm not there yet and it's not a top contender based on its price.

This video still gives me goosebumps. Honestly these are some of the most evil sounding cars on the face of the earth with a decat. Lovely car mate, enjoy :)
