Took all my tools out along with the bike, I borrowed a rivetting tool. But you can't break the chain with it, so after 5 minutes of Google searching and finding that out. I packed everything up and went back home... I hope it comes tomorrow morning, although its RM so...

Lesson learnt...

Edit

What summer jackets would you all recommend? I'm thinking of getting something like this, this has some kind of abrasion protection but is fully vented. Last summer I was sweating...

My RST Ventilator jacket is extremely breezy and cool in the summer with the thermal and waterproof layers taken out. Although I use my leather jacket in summer, only get a little warm sometimes when still, but not often.

The real question is: do I spend ~£300 on my Hornet for stage 1 dyno and tune?! :D

I'm more after something to fix the vibrations, jerky throttle and bad handling when it's cold. It'll sometimes decide it wants to go faster without moving the throttle as well. Fuelling is way off.

It's definitely running lean since new exhaust.

Carbs. There's just the normal amount of free play in the throttle at the moment, so a little slack.

I guess sensibly I should clean and balance the carbs first (they've never been done and the bike sat for over a year when I got my Speed Triple + has stood before that quite a bit).

Yeah I'd start with that, get the carbs balanced - and a tiny amount of slack in the throttle can be bad, unfortunately on my cb400 (remember it's 16 years old and has done 45k miles!) the throttle is too stiff to have it completely slack free, but on the Tuono it's prefect, the only movement is the play in the throttle tube and I can hold that at an exact speed with zero issues, god bless old school cables and a decent FI system :D

Angle grinder... much easier.

LOL where are you planning on going that requires something like this? leather jacket and tshirt has always been good enough for me in summer. You can get perforated leather jackets but again unless you're planning to go to spain/italy I don't really see the point of those in the UK
The tool should be here tomorrow, if its too much faffing I'll use angle grinder.

They're useful in the UK... for the 1 day of the year it gets above 30 degrees. Otherwise, nah. Leathers with vents, or just ride quicker! :p
You forget I ride an SV650... not exactly a speed demon, after 100 on autobahn it accelerates like an average car. :(

I need to get a size up RST leather jacket, went back to doing 100 push ups a day and when I had it on last Friday I couldn't zip up... :(

Thanks, I'll give that a try. The throttle cable could probably do with replacing anyway as the return cable snapped so the throttle is probably in a similar state, although it does feel smooth

Err... look down a couple of lines... CB400 ;) 110mph GPS confirmed top speed. And when I meant ride faster, I mean don't pootle about through town, when it's 25 degrees doing 40+mph is enough to cool down.

I've recently put new throttle and clutch cables on my 12 year old Z750 and had the throttle bodies balanced (FI) and it's honestly like a new bike. Feels amazing the difference but my clutch cable was hilariously stretched.

Can be night and day difference buy a set of gauges worth having I use a friends he's had for over 20 years because I am tight to buy my own :D

Will be doing zzr1200 again in the next couple weeks time smoooth as butter again.

On a side note winter hack vfr750 has just done over 70k bless her.

I use bolt croppers to take my old chain off, cheap cheerful and easy.

I also wear a Dainese mesh jacket when it warms up, I'm naturally somewhere near boiling point most of the time so it's much more pleasant than even my perforated leathers once it gets sunny. Gives the feeling of almost just wearing a t-shirt which is great in the summer.

Will give that a go first + carb clean as well.

Carb balancer gauges are only £40 which is already cheaper than the labour cost of getting someone to do it, so may as well learn.

Thanks :)

Might be new textiles time for me. Pants have always been a bit too small and jacket is now leaking even after nikwax washing it. It's a shame as the jacket itself is still fine, just the waterproof liner that's gone.

I'm still eyeing this up though:

to permanently move into the area of "what a ****" :D
