Pap yourself time if you don't like touch.
I like simple. Simple is good.

Yep same here. You can't operate a touchscreen while keeping your eyes on the road. Physical buttons and dials are much safer because you can use them by feel and by memory.I personally dislike touch screens in a car. Buttons and dials for me please.
You live in Stoke don't you?
My mates P90 was broken into the other night but the battery was dead so they didn't get away with it.
According to the cops there have been a lot of Landrover thefts in Stoke recently but they don't know why.
That's how I feel.Yep same here. You can't operate a touchscreen while keeping your eyes on the road. Physical buttons and dials are much safer because you can use them by feel and by memory.
How does fiddling with a touchscreen interface for the radio differ from changing a song on your mobile phone? If every car has touchscreens, the laws surrounding these things become at best, a bit woolly, at worst, a complete joke.
Very true. As far as I can tell there is no law that specifically targets you messing about on your in car doo dahs while driving yet press a phone to the side of your head and you are the spawn of Satan and you get 6 points. How does fiddling with a touchscreen interface for the radio differ from changing a song on your mobile phone? Trent Valley Road
For me that seems to end up being a lot more electronical monitoring and control gubbins that then either breaks and/or throws a hissy fit if you mod in something like a 12v ciggy socket. I can do that on my bike without blinking, but some modern vehicles really do take away all the fun, ease and control of actually using them.I want that technology to just do its thing with minimal input from me and with minimal impact on the aesthetic of the cabin.
Driving without due care and attention...?Very true. As far as I can tell there is no law that specifically targets you messing about on your in car doo dahs

There's also no punishment for employers (like mine!) who insist that you take calls whilst driving, and yet refuse to fit a handsfree system to their company cars.

There must be something/someone you can report them for/to because that is ludicrous.
I hope you flatly refuse to do it... Or do you just buy your own handsfree system?
Yes... if they can prove it. They can pull the records for a text or a call but they can't prove that you were browsing through your media files looking for your favourite track or fiddling with your ambient light settings. Or maybe they can?!Driving without due care and attention...?
The onus is (probably) on you to refuse the dangerous situation, policy, practice, etc. They cannot make you do this and you can probably take them to a tribunal over it, but I think that would then be a civil matter, not criminal. There's also no punishment for employers (like mine!) who insist that you take calls whilst driving, and yet refuse to fit a handsfree system to their company cars.
Depends on what they're doing. As I've said before, I don't regard talking on the phone whilst looking at the road as any more dangerous than the thousands of things people legally do whilst driving. I know that'll make me incredibly popular on here but oh well![]()
I'd assume they have eyes and or cameras, so can see you and record you weaving all over the place...Yes... if they can prove it.
Again, possibly... Certainly they can investigate when a file was last accessed or downloaded, when a forum post was made or a Farcebook/******* status updated, when a selfie was taken, etc...They can pull the records for a text or a call but they can't prove that you were browsing through your media files looking for your favourite track or fiddling with your ambient light settings. I cycle up & down that every day coming off at Collin Road.

Basically, the same as if an employer insisted you do building work without wearing any PPE...
Depends on what they're doing.
A lot of people liken it to talking with passengers, but passengers (including driving instructors) can at least see if things are getting a bit close and they need to shut up for a moment while you concentrate. Someone on the other end of the phone cannot. Plus, you don't need to hold a passenger up to your head to talk to them... !!![]()
Last company I worked for allowed us to supply hands free kits for employees but we were strictly told never to encourage or recommend using them whilst driving so the company wouldn't become liable if they had an accident.
Ya know, I thought we were talking about stuff like this.

I will probably get one of these one day.
(Very little effort can put the old V8 to well over 300 BHP)
