****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

From what I've seen, I wish they had spent more of the budget on facial animations than paying Natalie Dormers' pay cheque, some of the faces look really bad.

The CC is pretty bad there were more options in the wwf n64 games from my childhood. I can only assume that its not the full CC suite with the trail, I base this on the facial hair option alone as there is only 4 which cant be the case.

What is concerning though is that they must have been happy with what they produced otherwise they wouldn't allow a 10 hour trial. Unless this is something they were made to do.

But I have faith as the Mass effect games are my favourite of all time.

Have Nvidea released a game ready river for this game yet.

I'm pretty sure they didn't have a choice... All EA games are part of their access scheme aren't they? If they left out one of their biggest Bioware franchises I think people would 100% know it was terrible, whereas this way they get their die hards defending the game.

Well, the MP is brilliant fun (with friends, not randoms obviously). I don't really mind how schlocky or rubbish the SP is, as I'll only be playing it when I don't have MP buddies to game with :)

Playing ME for MP is a pretty ridiculous reason to play an ME game and likely why Bioware and EA ruined the SP, because people like you don't care for the fundamentals anymore.

So much backlash on the animations. It's a shame as I don't think that kind of thing is easily patched. Takes a lot of work to animate.

I only played about an hour of MP (engineer) and pretty good so far. What I don't like is the long CD on powers and that compared to MP in ME3 you cant decrease cool down by carrying lower weights. I.e. in ME3 if you only carried a light pistol for example instead of 2 weapons you got a bonus on CD time. I found it impossible to get off consistent tech explosions.

But only got to lvl4 in that 1h so we'll see how it is at higher lvl.

Question, is the resolution in early access limited to 1020 for all or is it limited for me? Greyed out in options cant change the resolution.

I'm all for giving a game flak if it's bad, but the sense of entitlement you see on Twitter, Reddit and so on is crazy.

People are asking the devs if the day 1 patch fixes massive things like the facial animations, gives them more CC options etc. Come on guys, let's be realistic here.

Self entitlement?

No offence but Its people like you who accept unfinished games that has the gaming industry the way it is and why time after time devs release unfinished games, then we see a patch then we see dlc Bull S that brings what should be in the game initially.
Also people who run off an pre order games way in advance of release.
Its plays right into the hands of lazy devs.

I cant speak about Andromeda as I haven't played it.

Love how people who pre order games get the blame if a dev screws up. The animation clearly has issue no one can deny that. However if you enjoy the game over all then good doesn't excuse lazy animations but it's not entirely bad. What's got developers slack imo is nothing to do with pre order it's how easy it is for them to patch games now. Day 1 patches are accepted. Back in the day of hl1, turok, unreal , sin etc they couldn't just pump out a patch so easily so devs would focus allot more on quality control

People who preorder are probably the main reason for games not working on release as devs know they can get away with it. If people didn't buy the product then devs would have to make sure that it works on release. Sadly people get rolled along with the hype train blindly pre-order then complain when it doesn't match their expectation, I have no sympathy for these people.

I pre ordered because I loved me1-3 simple as that, if I end up not liking it my own fault however I don't think all devs want to release games broken i feel it's the easy patch our way out culture they now have. Let's face it the only game on pc that's been a mess for all to point it was pulled briefly from sale was batman. I doubt this will be anywhere near that pile wrecked code

I disagree. The key issues are two-fold:
  1. Massive publishers and the need to keep shareholders happy. At the end of the day EA has to make money out of this. The developers are probably keenly aware of the flaws, but someone up top has to make a call about how much money to put into the game versus delivering shareholder value. Yes the gaming community is up in arms about the Pingu-like lip-sync, but joe public isn't going to care, nor are the shareholders. It's a sad fact of life and I don't blame the publishers. If they didn't make a profit out of these games, we wouldn't have had an ME2, let alone MEA.
  2. Games are massively more complex than those of yore and compromises have to be made. Yes obviously not all games have these problems so that's not 100% true, but when your fans are braying for open worlds, more customisation, the ability to sleep with everything including the toaster, you have to cut something somewhere.
I do agree that pre-orders and patching are making devs lazy (see: the last Batman Arkham game) and yes I agree that the best way to stop it is to vote with our feet. I have yet to preorder the game, I will play the trial when I finish work and as much of a super fan I am (the art book is in the post as we speak), I will not buy it if the limitations compromise the game. If I can however live with the limitations (anyone who tells me the combat coming out of the gate in ME1 on Eden Prime was anything less than ass needs to take off their rose-tinted specs) and enjoy the first 10 hours, I will be pre-ordering it.

Also had a poor inventory system too imo and too many boring mako drives but over all still an amazing game. No game is faultless I'm sure this and it sequels will have issues hopefully like yourself and others the good out ways it's bad which so far seems to just be animations

I've personally only Pre-Ordered because of the last amount of Good Will the name Bioware still had with me (which wasn't a lot after ME3, but enough to pique interest), coupled with the fact I "want" to throw a few Biotic explosions around in the ME Universe but can't (XBox 360 bit the dust 2 years ago) and prior to the animation stuff (lol), some small amount of hype was what got me to pre-order.

Hoping this won't be the last I ever pick up a Bioware game, as it took a lot to even bring the spark back for this one.

Cut scenes stutter between camera transitions for me. Also, during gameplay in some areas, the camera will move normally then slowly then normally again when turning it with an Xbox 360 wireless controller, it produces a stutter effect. I'm using Gsync and when I use mouse and keyboard it's fine. Shadow Warrior 2 had the same problem.

From what I've played it seems acceptable, but certainly nothing to write home about. Origin access is really good for trialling games.

While parts of the game look good I wouldn't buy it as one of the people involved in it's making, Manveer Heir, Is extremely anti-white, He talked about killing white people and Bioware did nothing about it.

I checked all this and it just seems like a bunch of people getting in a tiz over nothing.

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if it's the usual anti feminist, #gamergate crowd because of this talk he gave

The articles I've been reading about his twitter comments are the sort of crap you could fling at most people including all the people that think saying racist things on YouTube, reddit etc are funny.

It's quite clear he doesn't wish death on white people...

Have to admit that also gave me pause for thought when I read about it, but if I discounted every product that came from a company with poor moral judgement or has employees who's life barely rises above that of gutter scum then I'd never be able to buy anything.

He'd just another **** in a world full of ****'s, certainly puts a downer on my opinion of the company but its not going to wipe out all the enjoyment they have provided me over the years.

In-between those Manveer Heir tweets and the fact this game isn't even made by the 'real' Bioware (actual project developed by the Montreal team, their first game...) and what we've seen so far (not just the facial animations-- the writing, voice acting, the whole lot), this game is one big ol' red flag for me.

If someone said the same stuff about black people they would likely get attacked, Hospitalized and their career ended in a heartbeat.

Sick of this double standard.
