Suspect confirmed to be Abu Izzadeen, known spokesman of a pro-extremism organization and previously convicted for funding terrorism overseas

Personally? I'm embarrassed. I'm embarrassed because this nutcase managed to do what he did. How? Granted, he was off his face - they all are - suicide bomber? - here- have some smack - you wont feel a thing.

Where do you think most of the heroin in the world comes from? Brainwashed by opium.

Dangerous world we live in.

Last I saw that was incorrect. Apparently he is currently in prison again after being arrested abroad for more religious extremist related offences and deported back to the UK, to serve his sentence here in one our luxury UK prisons.

Why embarrassed? Truth of the matter is that you can not stop these attacks. Anyone can take a knife to a crowded area and do some damage. Heck, not beyond the realms of possible for someone to build a DIY bomb and take it on the underground completely unchallenged.

What shocked me today other than the abhorant attack was Reuters posting images of the victims uncensored on twitter and retweeting them.

Disgusting behaviour really, no respect at all. For all we know, they could be the deceased :(

News on ITV saying the policeman who was attacked was unarmed.
That's normal at those gates. Unarmed cops by the gate to open and close it as ministers etc come in and out and then armed guys nearby. There are a big mixture of police, armed and unarmed, around the different entrances, and then in the public areas like Westminster Hall and the lobby outside the commons chamber.

Was a civil servant for a while, never had a permanent parliamentary pass but went in and out for meetings in the palace of westminster and portcullis house from time to time. Left about 5 years ago so wasn't anywhere near there today.

Very thankful the guy didn't do it around 5pm - the pavement on the bridge would have been packed and the people hit much much higher
