Ex Officer in a London Cat A/B - extremism and gangs in heavily populated areas/prisons in major cities was pretty big - Muslim prisonerss were very difficult to deal with.
Hope your wife manages to stay safe, it's a lot worse now than when I left 3 years ago and at that time it was bad.

Her jail is pretty stable at the moment, she is on zero contact with the cons atm because she is up the spout.
I must say i was very dubious to say the least, about her going the the job but she seems to be quite good at it.

Yeah I know, I'm currently in Detroit and in each of my meetings, some of the Americans have been like "OMG, are your family ok n stuff" and I'm like "yeah, they're 350 miles from London" it's been pretty big news here.
One of our directors made a very good point last night regarding governments and data surveillance, in that the governments are "pushing the ball" in the sense that the ball keeps getting away from them, but they keep getting quicker and quicker - at some point, they're going to catch it and things are going to suck.
The biggest problem in my eyes, is that for the last 10 years we've been throughly "primed" for a terror attack, it's been banged into us every single day, through every single medium, on every single frequency - now it's happened, it's like the ultimate confirmation bias - which will pave the way for more and more and more powers, but in reality (which nobody wants to consider) lunatics gonna lunatic - all the powers and surveillance in the world can't stop it.
Didn't the Paris attackers communicate via SMS they didn't stop them sadly. About as dumb an electronic communication method you can get these days and they were oblivious to it. I sincerely hope the public wakes up about their privacy before Orwell's reality becomes one we wish we could have.

Nah decided after 6 years service that life in the Civil Service could be a lot more pleasant than dealing with prisoners all day. It's not for everyone but suits a lot of people - if she is good at it and enjoys it good on her, it's a hard job but can be very rewarding.
Sadly I was there to see the change in attitudes towards female staff, prisoners were not treated with the same contempt if they hit a female officer as they were a long time ago. Cat C jails are "normally" a lot less full on and mental, the best year I had in the job I was at a Cat C, most prisoners have grown up by that point and just want to get on with getting out.

I heard it was limited to several TVs which had been tampered with by some US authorities.
Oh come on she is toxic and deliberately spouts controversial stuff to earn a living. You and I both know it. She is purely doing it for the money, end of.
IIRC they needed access to the actual device to install the malware it wasn't remotely exploitable.
Then again I think it was sony who was sending voice data unencrypted back to their servers for analysis a few years back so it's not like they even need malware.

Decades at least, certainly past our generation. I cant see anybody doing anything at the moment which will be likely to reduce or stop the attacks. Allied forces drone strike a moque with women & children in it or a school, ISIS drums up more support and creates another 20 Islamic terrorists. Round and round we go.
I did once think the troubles from Ireland would never stop and couldn't see how the two sides would ever come together but it happened.

that is just part of it though, the underlying issue is an ideological one, western foreign policy can act as a catalyst to some extent but isn't the cause. We could cease all intervention, let some parts of the world get on and kill each other, and still get attacks next time someone publishes a cartoon that 'offends' Islam.
